We met years before
I’d caught her sleeping
immune to the world,
without a care in the world

She dressed
in her own way,
with floral patterns
and personality socks
Always so bright,
always so confident

Often we’d speak
about life
and about death
With her frail voice
and her strong words

Living through
what I could not imagine
Surviving
and still smiling
Emotionally strong
and humble

I’d seen her the day before
She reminded me of past times,
times that pass too fast
she was content
she was sleeping
