Nope. We arrived at the North Rim official site just in time to watch a monstrous blizzard sweep over the canyon. Woke up the next morning to more sideways howling snow and found out they had closed the road and were diverting all traffic to the south rim (200 + mile detour). We were the last to leave from the North Kaibab trail for a couple days while the storm blew over. Should have brought my snowboard; I could have covered the first couple of miles pretty quickly... or fallen off the side of a cliff. Once we dropped into the canyon a couple miles, it was ok, but a first it was one hell of a storm. We were pinned down under the awning of an out of season Ranger cabin for several hours at one point.

a little snow pinned you down?

    pussy

:D Actually, at the point we had dropped low enough that it was rain, sideways sheets of rain. I can deal with straight down rain, but with night approaching and knowing the temp was going to drop close to freezing, we felt it prudent to not get soaked the first night out. We'd have been wet for three days before the sun actually re-emerged. I know, I know, no excuses... I whimped out.
