i've love old Gn'R....and since the original band will probably (and should) never do anything again, i'd love to see them re-release Appetite in a deluxe version. being the music geek i am, i've already put my own version together, but i'd still love something official. here's what i put together:

DISC ONE: ORIGINAL APPETITE ALBUM plus a few b-sides from that era:
shadow of your love -demo-
don't cry -demo-
you're crazy -alternate acoustic version-
whole lotta rosie -live-
under my wheels -axl, slash & alice cooper-
shadow of your love -studio version-

DISC TWO: DEMOS
jumping jack flash / heartbreak hotel / mama kin / move to the city / reckless life / nice boys / ain't goin' down / back off bitch / welcome to the jungle / mr. brownstone / paradise city / you're crazy / anything goes / rocket queen / november rain / used to love her / cornshucker / one in a million

DISC THREE: LIVE @ THE MARQUEE '87
welcome to the jungle / out ta get me / rocket queen / nightrain / my michelle / it's so easy / mr. brownstone / don't cry / you're crazy / paradise city / knockin' on heaven's door / move to the city / mama kin

would anyone else be excited for anything like this? :)

OMG. This is a GREAT idea. I love GnR as well and would scoop this up the second it was available for pre-order. 2012 would be the 25th anniversary of the album and would be a perfect time to release it.
He who forgets will be destined to remember.

  • you do realize a couple of those songs are from the use your illusion sessions. The only reason why they would release a deluxe appetite edition is if the record company wanted to pump sales due to lack of productivity from the band. The ball seems to be rolling for the new band atm, so I say not anytime soon.

I know November Rain and Don't Cry were written pre-Appetite and I remember the "With your bitch slap rappin...." line from You Could Be Mine being a quote in the Appetite booklet. I would love a deluxe edition of this. Great idea!
  • Oh boy. That would be awesome. I would buy that thing in a cocaine heartbeat.

About half of Use Your Illusion was written pre-appetite, roughly, they just had to be re-recorded and played with a little in the studio. Actually my mistake I think cornchucker is the only non pre-AFD song there. All those songs are out there, so you can make your own DELUXE AFD compilation ;)

the acoustic version of "you're crazy"...do you mean the one on 'lies'?

there's actually ANOTHER acoustic version that they did, i think it was on the nightrain single...it's a bit slower than the one on the 'lies' ep.

all of the demos i used were done during the appetite sessions EXCEPT for used to love her/ cornshucker / one in a million...i just wanted to throw them on there.

Am I the only one that liked Democracy?! It's not a GnR album, it's an Axl album but that doesn't mean it's not good. It's one of my favourite records of the century.

Plus one, my nukka (though I'm perfectly content calling them GN'R,).

I wouldn't mind an AFD Deluxe either, but I'd hope they didn't touch the mixing/mastering. It already sounds great, and I know how reissues get wrecked in that sense.
    Thanks EPOTTSIII!
