it's funny you posted this. I have been looking to get a new 360 game recently and The Need For Speed caught my eye online. I have never played a NFS game but the videos and reviews on it have really peaked my interest. how is it??

I might just have to pick this one up

Solid and old school gameplay. Good mechanics, some new twists, but it's great for superfast reflex decision's. Graphics are great 8.5 / 10. The social aspect is cool because it enforces friendly competition within your friends list . . . I spent 30 min trying to shave 0.14 seconds off my best time to beat a friend  Still, kind of fun to go after the old arcade goal of posting a best score . . .
  • i haven't played a need for speed game in years. personally, though, i've got a bigger boner for the release of gran turismo 5. i'm definitely going to be picking that one up.

I haven't thought much of a Need for Speed game since Most Wanted.
  • Several places are having this on sale for BF. K-Mart of all places is going to have it for $34.99 on Thanksgiving Day, so that's where I'm getting mine so I can avoid the BF lines even though Amazon will probably price match.

    Can't wait to play it!

The team that developed the Burnout series was brought on board for this game. I agree that all NFS games since Most Wanted have been sub-par (to be kind). This game finally gets the series back on track. If you can pick this game up for less then $40 this weekend, I wouldn't hesitate. My rating is

Gameplay - 9 (The shortcuts require skill and fast reflexes)
Graphics - 8 (Very good but not exceptional; Night lighting is very good)
    M.P - Haven't tried it yet
Presentation - 9 (Good layout although I'm docking EA a point for starting the game with a commercial Damn you EA! You greedy bastards)
    Overall - 8.5

In regards to deals this holiday season, it doesn't seem like there are as many deals and promotions as there were last year. Even on amazon, most games are debuting at full price where last year it seemed like most games were $10 cheaper then retail and most had $10-$20 gift cards attached as well.

With GT5 released today there'll be no racing time for NFS ;)

I knew about Criterion's involvement. I played the demo when it was released and wasn't impressed.
I meant to go back to it but I'm not sure it's still playable.

When I actually see the copy of GT5 in my hands, then I will believe it. If it's true, I probably would have held off on F1 2011 for a price drop but I figured it would be the only racing game for PS3 this year.

My goddamn logitech wheel has been gathering dust for three years waiting for Sony to release this game. It had better be worth the hype . . .

I just grabbed a Logitech Driving Force GT on Friday as it was on sale, and GT confirmed on store shelves now :P
I'm still waiting for an F1 price drop but that will be a 360 title for me.
