the sound is just so damn clear and the mix is so damn perfect. for live music, it has a studio quality feel to it, but the live still shines thru. amazing.

    and mine blinks

i bought my cd the day it came out in 1995- coincidentally it was the last day of school for the year, so i went and got the cd, then drove back and drove around the parking lot blaring abitw pt 2. that showed them teachers!

anyway, that fucking thing blinked until about 3 years ago. the ten or so years before that it grew increasingly faint, but you could still see it if you turned off the lights or looked close enough. 14 years those batteries lasted.

It's an alright live album. DSOTM + a few extra "hits" performed live is a gimme, but I don't think some of this stuff is as good as it should be. I dunno if it's the relatively modern equipment that it's played and recorded on, but there's something just a little too clean to the whole thing. I think the more recent Live 8 and Gilmour performances of the Floyd stuff are more representative to the classic live Floyd sound. And give me the stuff from Live at Pompeii or 5/9/77 In the Flesh tour bootleg all day. Those are great live "albums".

I do have to give credit where credit is due, though. That Comfortably Numb solo has to be among the best ever.

Listened to it today actually on a train journey and you can just drift off into a happy place while listening to that solo. You actually never want it to end when you're listening to it. Gilmour is a genius
