Hartford 2008 - first show ever - in the merch line, going to buy a shirt (missed out on the poster) and a late 30s woman standing next to me in the next line checks me out up and down and says:

    "How old are you?"

    I reply back, "17."

"Oh, you're very cute. I was going to ask you if you wanted to grab a drink after the show," she tells me.

I said, "Thank you but I don't want you to get arrested."

I get hit on by an older woman, who could've been my mom, before I hear my first notes of live Pearl Jam.

In 1994 at the Rochester War Memorial... I was 20 years old then. Pearl Jam shows were general admission on the floor still. The crowd was insane. So I was about 10 rows back and they opened up with Wash... they went into Animal and the place went fucking crazy jumping up and down. Well, on a mistimed jumped a few bars into the song my chin was hit from underneath and a little bit of my tongue was sticking out. My teeth clipped a small piece of my tongue off that night and there's a small flap to this day! It bled like crazy and I never left. I think it stopped bleeding after a few songs.

This was during the VS. tour. The day after this show... I think... Kurt Loder came on MTV in the afternoon and announced that Kurt Cobain was found dead at his home in Seattle.

Anyway there's one of many stories but a quick one.
    Thanks for the chance!

    As i'm running comp, this post doesn't qualify me for a place in the hat, but thought i'd share my amusing story;

Manchester '09 Me & a mate were in the venue and about 20 mins before Gomez came on (house lights are still up), Jack a dude we had met when we got in there needed a piss, but didn't want to fight the crowd to the toilets & back, so he asks my mate to borrow his hoodie, then proceeds to wrap it around his waist, puts one of the plastic pint cups under the hoodie and pisses into it. Don't even want to think about where that ended up after he placed it on the ground.

Even though I have never been to a Pearl Jam concert, one amusing moment was at Benaroya Hall during Thin Air when Stone and Mike mess up and later that night when Eddie talks about Mike messing the lyrics to Kiss's I want to rock and roll all night. Good times! Thanks for the chance!!! :D

  • Mesa, AZ - 1993, my first show
I was sitting near the top of the lawn of this small outdoor amphitheatre just taking in the whole experience. Not only was this my first PJ show, but also my first real concert. Once the show really got going, the pit area in front of the stage was getting trampled so much from all the moshing/jumping/dancing that it created a huge dust funnel billowing up in front of the stage. I will never erase that image from my mind.

This show was also the US debut of Yellow Ledbetter (played once in Madrid in 92) and was later released on the import version of the Jeremy single. :ugeek:

  • Hartford 2010- Took my 7 year old... Right after the concert all the people around us wanted to take a picture of my son (still can't figure it out - Yeah he's cute) but the best conversation was the woman above us who was telling her fiance that becuase of my son and how cute and how he knew all the words, that she was ready to have kids  I think she would have taken him if she could :?

    Thanks for this!!!

  • In Columbus OH this year...

Band of Horses just finished when these 2 dudes showed up for the seats in front of us (on the rail of the upper deck). After a couple of minutes, they turned around and asked us if BOH had already played. After telling them yes, they just missed them, they turned around and started talking about how it sucked that they missed them, etc, etc. Having keen hearing (and probabaly due to the fact that I was evesdropping a little), all of a sudden I heard one of them say, "10 minutes of BOH would blow away 2 hours of Pearl Jam." While I was processing what I just heard, not really sure on how to take it, my wife's friend who was with us damn near pushed the guys over the rail. In fact, the rest of the night, it was all we could do not to.

From the band, same show...funniest shit I heard in a while came out of Eddie when he said, referring to the one and only rule of their new religion, "can't f-in Twitter, hate that shit!"
"Then the Spirit of God hovered over the water, and God said, Let there be music, and there was Pearl Jam."

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

Too many to choose from. I guess I'll go with Soldier Field 07-11-95. Guys were on FIRE. Specifically "Blood" was ridiculous! The band went absolutely ape shit at the end of this song, smashing most of their equipment. It was fucking awesome!

    Thanks for the chance.
  • June 15, 2003 - took a friend to the Fargo show. He was skeptical that 10Club tickets could be any better than Ticketmaster tickets - until we kept walking closer and closer to the stage and sat down 3rd row centre. He was flabbergasted. Best seats I've had, and we were lucky enough to witness Ed sing Arc to open the show.

    Thanks for the chance!

last night at the spectrum - 10/31/09. Lost my brother october 2008 who was also a pj fan - in fact i placed their live at msg dvd in his casket - I had thoroughly convinced myself that between his divine intervention and my 10c membership i was getting front row. yea right - my son and i were literally in the next to last row! i could touch the spectrums' ceiling with my hand! ok - kinda got over it - at least i was in the house. prior to pj coming on i made a bathroom run. i come back and as i'm walking up the steps i look up and see my cousins. at first i thought wow i turned into the wrong section and what are the chances i run into my cousins - well it wasn't the wrong section they were sitting in the row directly in front of us! both of these cousins were also extremely close to my brother. sitting in the next to last row just didn't matter cause i knew my brother had intervened and wanted the four of us to sit together. wow i'm sitting here at work crying just reliving this in my mind!

We are both from Notts!!! OMG where you live?????????

The most amazing thing was Eddie crying giving the speech at Berlin.

Or no no wait does hearing Love Boat Captain at soundcheck as well as other songs and we were all cheering waiting to go into the side entrance and the band could hear it.

This is my moment as well. I read the next day in the paper that apparently a bunch of people walked out after this...somehow this strikes me as inconsequential next to the thousands of people that went crazy after it happened.

so many stories i could add here, but i already have the book so i want someone else to win it.

    i'll share one story, though...

seeing my wife's face light up when "Why Go" kicked off their set at ACL. she didn't listen to a lot of PJ before we met, and i didn't force it on her. she started digging around my collection & got into them on her own. then she asked me to make a playlist for her. (that's when i knew she was really getting into them) i knew that the clincher for her would be a live show, and it was. now she keeps asking me about a tour!! such a memorable night.

    good luck everyone!

Hey dude or dudette, greetings from Carlton...I live just over the top of Carlton Hill. What about you? Were you at either Manchester '09 or Hyde Pk '10? It's a bit random innit...we are communicating via a website set up in Seattle, thousands of miles away, yet we probably live within five miles of each other

Good luck on winning, & to everyone else also. Now if you win everyones gonna think it was jury rigged ;)

2000 Detroit Front row - My friend throws a joint to Mike as he's leaving the stage after the set. When Mike comes back out he pours a bucket of candy on us, then through a series of hand signals my friend and Mike have a quick conversation on whether he liked the weed. Mike didn't smoke the joint but the guys backstage give it a thumbs up
    Things were different then
