my cousin invited me to go to Dave Matthews Band tonight at MSG. I never liked DMB growing up and always had a negative view of them.

that being said I am going in with a 100% open mind and am really hoping I enjoy it and have a good time. Im doing this for my older cousin. we have been trying to go to shows for years but it just never worked out. so this is our first show together...and its her favorite band DMB. tonight marks her 62nd show so she is a fanatic.

any idea of what to expect besides frat boys and sorority slobs?

I good buddy of mine went last night.
Not really a DMB fan but he got comped some sweet seats.

He said the show was great and that there were hot drunk chicks EVERYWHERE :o

    have fun
  • Do not miss the John Butler Trio!!! Will be a far superior show than that of Dave, I assure you!

Hot drunk chicks, a famously talented band ( tim Reynolds is an incredible guitarist) and one of the best drummers in rock (Carter beauford).
Plus as a hard core pj fan and bootleg collector, I can say with all conviction that DMb tapers are world class , look at all the microphone stands in the crowd. DMb is much more taper friendly and as a result the audience boots of each show are high quality IMO ( and free)

Me & my 2 friends from high school (and one that is still in high school) came down from our respective colleges and went home to NY for both shows, had a fantastic time, this was my 8th DMB show. First, can't beat John Butler Trio opening for them, big fan and was thrilled to hear they were opening! They were fantastic as well and the crowd was loving them! Thought DMB were really on both nights and had an amazing time (still doesn't beat a PJ show, though :) ) Good mix of hits and rarities throughout both nights, some old favorites and some surprises.

Wanted to share this-- a highlight of the whole experience, DMB singing Everyday with South African artist Vusi Mahlasela: an absolutely beautiful moment, you could feel the love in MSG http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xccc6VB7T1I

For me, really special shows cuz I was with my best friends who I hadn't seen since summer, it was my best friends birthday weekend who I always see DMB with, and it was our last DMB show til 2012 after they take 2011 off.

I was at the first Dave Matthews Band show in MSG on Friday, and I frankly thought it was mediocre. Having been my 9th show, and my wife's between 15th and 20th show, we both walked out feeling like the band was off (as evidenced by watching Dave Matthews screaming at his bandmates at different times and noting his disappointment with his crew after the encore break), the setlist was very blah, and we were both agitated that they forgot to do the finishing chorus and breakdown on "Lie in Our Graves". Word on the street was that night 2 was much better, but I still don't think you come into that building and lay down what was essentially a stinker for them.

The show I saw at the very beginning of the Big Whiskey tour at Madison Square Garden was much much better (conversly the best DMB show I had seen).
