deeply dropping in the gloaming
down into darkness
my tools sink in
their progress suddenly slowed
by the richest of earth's clay
no need to hurry now
as my gloved fingers try to smear
the decomposed coating
off each object that I find

giddy and giggling
as a brilliant face gleams back at me
it's first ever debut into light
I rock back on my heels
smiling, contented, knowing
that I am the first to touch
this one small piece of earth's vast treasure

This one gives me a nice picture of someone digging in the garden. :)

  • ...well it wasn't specifically about gardening, but it could be!
or it could be about unearthing an idea and bringing it out into the light...
or it could be about searching for and finding quartz and other mineral crystals
in the mountains where I live...or it could be about two people discovering rare
beautiful gemstones in their conversation as they find out more about each other...

basically it's about the satisfaction and thrill of discovery...
