    poet's magic pen
    they asked

    who asked? poet
    heard nothing of it

poet's magic pen exists in his pocket and in her heart and in their cabinets
    together
and in museums and in libraries and in banks and in winterized pools

    and in a dimly-lit bar

    he sits, pondering

    poet's magic pen
    able to draw almost anything
his heart, her pocket, green paper

    gleaming diamond trashcans
    sunlit paper politician
    closet full of closing doors
    stealthy ladder to dinner
    cruise ship in a puddle
    dying pilot of the warehouse
tiles made of moving cloud trapped in kitchen with view of ocean or trees or caves

    beautiful south jersey
    hideous south jersey
old brick buildings of new jersey
poet's mystical pen may draw these
    he said

    sometimes without knowing

may draw landscapes remembered tho' never seen
may draw horse-drawn carriage on christmas eve
may draw, may win, may lose, will not care

poet's pen may draw anything, it seems
    anything but a crowd

    Excellent
    but why not a crowd

    why not try
    a crowd

    Oh I get it
    nevermind

    Excellent plus 1

I am tired; my heart is
    sick and sad. From where
the sun stands I will fight
