I had never heard of this before. It's called Chicago Tapes and Unreleased Demos. It just showed up as "new this week" in an email from my local record shop. What the hell is it? Is it a bootleg LP?

Yeah, it's got the same cover as Mellon Collie. I've heard to stay away from it. ;)

Personally, i enjoyed it. I would reccommend checking it out if you're a big fan.

The sound is not bad at all.
  • interesting. I guess it's all subjective. I checked out some reviews on an sp message board, and it was pretty clear down one side, no good.

On the SP Media Militia site I downloaded a live show from 95' I believe. From The Metro? It's heavy on Mellon Collie material and is very decent sounding for a bootleg.

I've not heard the Chicago Tapes bootleg, but will see if I can dig it up on Demonoid or something.

  • Billy was making a concept album about Chicago. Nothing was ever released, but he did play a big batch of songs from the rumoured-LP at a show in either Melbourne or Sydney on his 2005 tour for that electronicy solo album he did. The whole tour was electronicy except for that one Aussie show, which was all acoustic and full of Chicago songs.
    My Pearl Jam shows: 1 in 1995, 2 in 1998, 20 in 2003, 13 in 2006, 3 in 2007, 8 in 2008, 5 in 2009, 4 in 2010, 5 in 2012. EV: 8 in 2011, 1 in 2012. Brad: 1 in 1998, 1 in 2002.
