When I found this I thought it was interesting that Billy said he likes STP. I've always been under the impression that he didn't like them and grouped them with Bush when he vaguely talks about "posers" but with this quote it makes it clear that he respects them. I am disappointed though that he didn't mention Pearl Jam, but hey he's just jealous of them being where he'd like to be :D

  • it's not just on this board. people I talk to all over the place hate him. Zeitgeist is one of my favourite albums. And his GLOW 2-song single (with Superchrist) is some of the best music the SP ever made.

I agree. Did you like the American Gothic EP? I think that is some of the best SP I've ever heard. The DVD that came out along side it is awesome too. Love that they show the development of some of those tunes from A.G.

Yep, that one! It'd didn't really accompany it. I think there was a long gap of time between both releases? I think the American Gothic EP was recorded during their residency documented in the film right?

  • was it? I haven't watched the doc part of the dvd yet, just the performance. But I will now!

Oh man, it's awesome! The venue they played those shows at is where they recorded the EP. They set up a huge rug on the venue floor and played there. It's worth hearing it in super high quality sound alone.

true. i'm not much of a SP fan, but i don't feel the need to rip Corgan apart either. they have some good songs, just never really connected with the music.
    I LOVE MUSIC.

  • Billy ripped into Pavement yesterday on Twitter. If he wrote a book it would be amazing, it would just be him praising himself and trashing a bunch of bands:

Just found out SP is playing with Pavement in Brazil. It’s gonna be 1 of those New Orleans type funerals

I say that because they represent the death of the alternative dream, and we follow with the affirmation of life part.

funny how those who pointed the big finger of ‘sell out’ are the biggest offenders now…yawn. they have no love

by the way, we’ll be the band up there playing NEW songs because we have the love xx
