    I've never been a big fan of Stairway To Heaven. Freebird has a great solo, but Sweet Child O Mine is my vote. That solo packs a great punch in a short time. Freebird just goes on too long.

    i have al this in mind when i post the thread..thats why i wrote in the tittle the most known..the second part of the solo of Sweet Child o mine is frikkin great and catchy to remember :)

    i'd like to nominate Robby Kreiger's solo in light my fire. you can start that song somewhere in the middle of the solo and know exactly who it is and what song it is.

    also the main solo in crazy train is pretty well known as well.

    Little Wing is a fantastic song, but I don't think it has one of the best known solos ever. Especially over stuff like Purple Haze or Watchtower. Machine Gun is the Hendrix song that most guitarists site in magazines when talkin guitar songs.
