    he one of the best mcs of our generation and the new album will be near the top of all the critics top 10 lists of 2010. he is a trendsetter and tastemaker. one of those who actually try to push the boundaries of their art form each album release.

    he deserves the praise he gets, but i never understood people like ed or the prez who insist on badmouthing him. he jumped up and interrupted Taylor's speech. He shouldnt have done it, but come on!

    Lots of great artists have huge egos. lil wayne is in the top tier of rappers in the world, of our generation, and he is a jerk. doesnt mean he doesnt deserve my respect and admiration

    that absolutely means he doesn't deserve respect. If someone is a jerk and publicly humiliates people, I don't care what they do or good they are at it, I'm not going to think highly of them.

    I can respect someone's talent as an artist, but if they're a jerk, that's pretty much where it stops.

    so you vet every artist you listen to? You dont own any albums by any artists who are jerks? Beyond that how would you even know if any of them ARE jerks. Further art is art. I appreciate it. Van Gogh could have been a mass murderer and rapist, Dylan could be a bad father, Deniro may be rude to women. I am not suggesting these people are in fact these things, the point is all of them all 3 have created beaitiful lasting art, that doesnt hinge one iota on whether they are good or moral people.

    I dont base my artistic tastes on whether the artist is a "good person" or not, frankly thats an obsence thing to do

    take the time to read the whole post, don't just pick what you want to form an argument. Of course I can own an album by an artist by someone I don't like...liking their music and respecting them are two very different things. The argument was "just because someone is a jerk doesn't mean I shouldn't respect them."

    I personally don't get that mindset. Music is very small in relevance when compared to treatment of others.

    Im not gonna hate a band or musician just because they bash PJ. thats idiotic. my music fandom is big enough to encompass the dead kennedys and jay-z, pink floyd and brnce springsteen, r kelly and the grateful dead. im sorry, im not gonna hate a band just because ed hates them, I was at the seattle show where he bad mouthed kanye and it made me mad ed even mentioned it.

    Just to be clear I never mentioned anything about his music. I haven't listened to enough of his material to rank him among the greats or not-so greats.

    BUT, this guy is a complete and total TIT.

    Out of any 'celebrity' I can actually think of I he has to be the most self absorbed, petty, childish baffoon of the lot. He reminds me of a 5 year old who knocks over his glass of milk on purpose to get some attention, ANY attention, positive or negative. It's really not hard to fathom why people all over the world laugh at the lad. Forget the music, Kanye west has got some ego problem in behemoth quantities. Just because his music is great doesn't excuse his behaviour (that award thing).

    He deserves all the mockery that comes his way.

    I'm not hating on him because I like Taylor Swift (she's ok, unoffensive, whatever)... But that was just an asshole move. Like, she won, let her win it without interrupting her. I don't care how talented he is..
