The smartest charity i ever heard of--Heifer.org

Instead of supplying food, this charity supplies a source of food....

    There's a collection at work every year for one of the big bosses and this is the charity they chose.

    (I thought at first it was a cruel joke, as one of the big bosses is, um, kind of big...)

    I gave the "gift of a goat" a few years back. I can't recall if it was through Heifer or a similar organization.

    Oxfam do those kind of gifts. There is food to cater for a crisis but their aim is to give those who this gifts are aimed at the tools to enable them to develop their community. Whether this is with a well, a goat/cow, seeds, toilets, education materials, etc.

    We've been doing this for years. An excellent idea.
