Glittering glass

The way the sun was shining made it sparkle in the road
the sun was descending for it was that time of the evening
golden, warm, glowing in my eyes as I drove
at the stop light I was half blind
but then I saw the sparkles on the asphalt
like diamonds, like pink flat back crystals
they glittered and winked in the light
a bit hypnotic with the blinding sun
but then I looked and noticed it was a debris field
that must have been soooommmme accident
to leave a debris field with that much glass
so shattered
such small pieces
so MANY!
who got hurt?
more than one person?
was the crash serious?
and then I thought about how wrong it was that
it caught my attention for being beautiful in the sunset.
