I heard a song today
I'm sure it was okay
it made me stop and listen
but it wasn't exactly right for what I was feeling

and I'm sure it was all right
cuz it made me stop and listen
but it wasn't precisely what was on my mind
I heard a song today and
it made me say (to myself) I really needed something closer
a song to sing that was closer to what was in my head
so I decided that I could, would, go home and work on that
instead of searching for someone else's song to come along
on the radio
