These types of sites/commentaries are silly. They don't change people's opinions, only preach to the choir.

Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a law-breaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. - Louis Brandeis

it's for those people who complain that he hasn't done anything. Who were already complaining that he didn't doing anything after his 1st month as president. And had already deemed him the worst president ever.

I know who "it's for", but you may as well make a site saying "www.no-one-cares.com"..fact and reality don't shape most people's beliefs and thoughts unfortunately.

Actually Flex spending is targeting to be cut in half and significantly reduced during his term. From 5k for Health to 2.5k and changes to regulation which need dr notes for over the counter meds. Also, the transportation portion of it has not been passed to continue at its current level and may get drastically reduced. It's all a sneaky little way to gain tax money in small increments for vendors and stores instead of being tax deductible.

First you get the facts wrong, then you insult the President, and after your proven wrong- all you have to say is that "it's really stupid" - what a joke ... ... that's why we can't have any real progress (ignorance)

I wouldn't go that far... he is correct but just didn't explain it in detail enough, but in all honesty, it is a big deal and these adjustments vastly undermine the idea of having this kind of plan. Obama deserves to be criticized for this as it directly impacts people's costs for healthcare and transportation to work simply to raise funds for taxes.

Yeah - I guess I jumped the gun a little, I guess the "it's really stupid" response sounded like most anti obama responses when they are given facts/solutions..... you'll have to excuse me. 8-)

As far as the tax, I think it is reimbursed with a prescription or letter of medical necessity....Also, thanks to the reform, people with the flex spending accounts can keep there kids on these plans up to the age of 26 and not only that, but the reform allows for people to pay for medical expenses for their children regardless of tax dependency status. Not bad....

Facts are trumped by people's beliefs. This makes for a scary world.

Yes that is correct bout the letter of medical necessity, but going from $5,000 pre-tax funds to $2,500 for one year or $230 per month to roughly $100 per month for transit pre-tax funds is a big deal. And yes there are aspects of the reform which extend coverage, but some of these were actually already laws in some states (like NY). It's not all bad, but this aspect is not good, and when you think about what actually could have been accomplished, the resulting "reform" is a mockery to us all. Incremental change works in the face of defiance or battle, the only trouble in this battle was the Dems and Obama had no backbone to get it done.

The other things I get OTC medicine so i do not have to go to the doctor. I think that was pretty stupid now if I need some cold medicine or allergy medicine I have to go to the doctor first, if I continue to use a FSA. That is pretty stupid too.
