Hey everyone on the board,

I will be in San Francisco between the 18th and 26th of December.
I wanted to ask around if anyone could share any ideas / insider knowledge regarding what to do, where to stay, what to see.
And I would love to meet some nice people and be happy to meet up with fellow PJ fans :)

I'm on couchsurfing, too in case there are others here reading this post :)
Otherwise I would like to stay in a hostel not too far from the good stuff....

Would be great if anyone could help out with some suggestions.

Cheers,

Or you can come to terms and realize
You're the only one who can't forgive yourself

north beach area was one of my favorites! vesuvios, city lights and chinatown. I have stayed at La Luna Inn for the past two years and have had great experiences theres, its on lombard street. Golden Gate Bridge and Fort Point. Also the Haight district in really neat. SO much to do and see just explore.

Just went there to go to Bridge School and I came from the UK.

Check out the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz tour would be ace but had no time to go. Go down Lombard street and Haight street. If your a techy like me Silicon Valley was kinda interesting.

Didn't have much else time there.

    Hey, thanks for the replies!
Didn't know that the Black Crows will be in town :)
Yes, I try to wear flowers on my head :P

    Another question:
Does anyone know a good website for cultural (music, film, art, underground scene) stuff?

I was just there last week being a tourist. I've been there several times for shows and passing thru but never to see stuff. I must say, AT&T park was one thing on the list to see and it is just BEAUTIFUL! (if you are into sports) and lombard has hotels GALORE and is lit up at night. The park/beach area under the golden gate bridge is AWESOME. Im a huge surfing fan and got to see a bunch of surfers riding BIG WAVEs! Whatever you do.......BE CAREFUL driving up the steep streets! :? I nearly died on......Davisadero? (i think thats it) DAMN it was steep!!! And SCARY!!!!

Senior year of college I interned in New York and was driving back to Olympia, WA for my last semester. I stopped to see friends, decided I didn't want to leave, got an internship for school and that was it. I can't recommend SF enough. I am originally from Ohio, and as a midwesterner the west is such a breath of fresh air. I say do it. Just move. You can always move back if it is not to your liking. Send resumes everywhere. You won't be sorry.

Saw Brisk say that the Alcatraz tour would've been ace but he didn't have time. Well I actually took the tour last month, and it was pretty damn awesome. Alcatraz is a very eerie building, and very worth checking out. I loved the experience.

I would love to watch people surfing! I just had my first surfing lesson and loved it. Not sure if I would try again during winter time....

How far is Silicon Valley? It certainly would be interesting to go. For now it always sounds so mysterious and unreal. Should go there....
