Why should we believe...

that the Republicans, if put back in control of congress, will make the economy better, reduce the deficit, or reduce the size and scope of goverment? What past actions in recent memory can we point to in order to see what the future might hold?

This is a serious question, by the way.

    they act a certain way on the podium, another way in private.,.....the only thinkg we can be sure of is that they are full of shit.

    we shouldn't and they won't just as the democrats weren't anything but a rubber stamp for the bush agenda those last 2 years of his term.

    the democrats took over after the '06 elections campaigning against the wars, patriot act, warrantless wiretapping....and what did they do with this majority? they voted to pass every war bill, they voted to renew the patriot act, they even voted to rewrite FISA so the wiretapping was legal!

    and now after they control both the legislative and executive branch i'm supposed to believe nothing changes because a minority of republicans hold everything up?? where the fuck were the dems those last 2 years of bush's presidency?? why weren't they obstructive like they claim the republicans are??

    because the majority of politicians are full of shit

    Clearly, in a serious answer, the Republicans aren't Muslim Marxists, and will efficiently reduce taxes to - 12 %, so the government actually PAYS YOU! All the while fixing the economic crisis and getting out of any current deficits by January, 2011 ...or February at worst.

    In these times of elections, I always think back to something Lewis Black said in one of his bits. "Democrats have no ideas and the Republicans have bad ideas." That's all I have to offer. I'm going to vote in an hour regardless. The shame of it is, not until about 10 hours ago did I know who or what the candidates were in my part of South Jersey... No one here advertised at all, it's like they've all given up already. Have a good day everyone! :mrgreen:

    They won't, but if we keep voting out incumbents after 1 term each, perhaps it will give rise to candidates concerned with action rather than re-election and lining their own pockets.
    The only people we should try to get even with...
    ...are those who've helped us.

    Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.

    Are there any Repubs that have any comments? I'd really like some information. I'm not sayng everyone has to respond to my thread and all but I'm beginning to think no one can cite any specific examples that relate to my original question. Say it ain't so.

    on my way home from work i heard on the news tonight (ap world news) that the top level republican representatives are not preparing any subpoenas as of yet, but they are going to launch several investigations of several people in the administration. and so the impeachment drums are beginning to beat...

    seriously, can we come together for the good of the country and not resort to sham political theater and investigations??

    and before anyone asks, i do not have a link and will not be home long enough to look for one. if i find one tomorrow i will post it then...

    there will be investigations and subpoenas because that is what republicans do when they hold the power in congress. that is what they do.

    How and why would they impeach Obama? The birth certificate issues is only being carried on by a few nuts and I don't see that becoming a prominent issues. Plus, I think the GOP wants Obama around for the next two years.

    Impeachment is not removal so they could have their cake and eat it, too.
