Five-star luxury...in the Palestinian West Bank A $40 million five-star hotel comes to Ramallah

It's not the first place you'd think of for a flashy, relaxing holiday, but Ramallah, a city of the West Bank in the Palestinian Territories, is about to receive its first ever luxury hotel.

The Movenpick Hotel Ramallah, part of the Swiss-based Movenpick Hotels and Resorts group, is a $40 million hotel aimed at a growing number of business travellers to the troubled region.

The lavish hotel features 171 rooms and suites, an outdoor pool, fitness centre, seven conference rooms, three restaurants (including a poolside restaurant and bar) and a cigar bar.

According to AFP, the upper-floor executive lounge features an unusual panorama of an Israeli settlement, a Palestinian refugee camp, and a view of Jerusalem on the horizon.

"The past is the past. We believe in the future of the country and the future of this hotel. It's a beautiful investment and an opportunity for Ramallah," general manager Daniel Roche told AFP.

Is the hotel a positive sign for the future of Ramallah? Would you stay there?
