hip hop fans generally recognize biggie and tupac as a high water mark in hip hop history. in any list of greatest mc's both routinely appear in the first couple slots.

Eminem or Jay Z. Jay Z has set a record for consecutive albums going to number 1 and you can't deny Eminem's use of words. Those two rappers lyrics are real and they're both better than every rapper out today.

Has to be Jay-Z. Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint. Enough said.

Lyrically I think there are some that are better than all three but they are obviously the top 3.

personally i'd go with talib kweli.

jay-z and nas have to be mentioned. eminem as well, although i think some of his material is kinda corny. especially the new stuff.

Eminems new album is as good as Marshal Mathers LP or the Eminem Show in my opinion. Rap album of the year if you ask me.

Recovery is definitely his best since The Eminem Show. +1 on rap album of the year. I think it can also go into discussion for album of the year.
