Band Of Horses opening for PJ. Damn NYC/Lincoln Tunnel traffic. Git there literally about a minute or so before PJ hit the stage.

not sure if this counts but Kaiser Chiefs at Live 8. They were the first band on and i really wanted to see them. We got there during the Bon Jovi set. Luckily Kaiser Chiefs came back about a month later in a smaller venue.

Missed out on Alice In Chains on Werchter Festival this summer. I had seen them the week before as a headlining act in Oslo, though, so it wasn't too bad.

I'll never know what I missed but me and the missus and Pke and his family sat outside Buckingham Palace for so long before Hard Rock Calling we missed most of the bands including The Gaslight Anthem who the missus really wanted to see. Missed most of The Hives too but saw Ed and Ben doing Under Pressure which was a small comfort.. ;)

  • Missed Metric at a SSPU show, and I had tickets to Minus the Bear but didn't go... other than that, I think I've caught every opener to the shows I've been to. Sometimes it's regrettable (I'm looking a you, Ted Leo)

The Vaccines twice! Once opening up for the Arctic Monkeys last year and a few months later at the Outside Lands Festival. I blame my friends though, I told them I was curious and wanted to see them but we still missed them :x Almost was a third time at the Philly Popped Festival but they cancelled. I'm sure i'll see them soon (hopefully this year)

1989 - I missed Queensryche opening for Metallica at Nassau Coliseum because my friend who was driving was late picking us up. I finally saw Queensryche at Jones Beach in 2007 when they opened for Heaven And Hell.

1990 - I missed Pantera opening for Exodus and Suicidal Tendencies at Toad's Place in New Haven because my friend was late picking me up. I later saw Pantera headline twice.

1991 - I missed Alice In Chains at MSG when they opened for Anthrax/Megadeth/Slayer. This one still hurts as I never saw AIC.

2001 - I missed Oasis opening for Neil Young & Crazy Horse in Paris due to a travel snafu. I also never saw Oasis.

2003 - I missed Steve Winwood opening for The Dead in Hartford due to insane traffic and parking difficulties. He came out and joined them for a bit which was cool. Plus I saw him headline in New Haven in 1986.
You see me empty, Sir, do not pause and inquire, simply assume and refill.

Walking into the venue as the Black Crowes began their opening slot for Tom Petty was the closest thing. There's only been a few opening band sets out of the shows I've seen that I thought were even enjoyable and don't think I woulda missed much by catching them. Alot of forgettable bands.....

Some I've enjoyed.....Black Crowes blew Petty off the stage, Jackson Browne was pretty good in back to back years for Petty, Nick Lowe was a nice mood setter for Wilco, Quiet Life for Dr. Dog were pretty cool, Band of Horses were pretty good for PJ despite have pretty boring albums, QOTSA and The Strokes were both pretty awesome at PJ20

Some that were so bad that I remember them.....Sonic Youth for PJ in 2000, Modern Day Zero(modern shitty Nickelback-esque butt rock) for VR, Delta Spirit...just boring at MMJ

I missed Sonic Youth opening for PJ in '06 because my friend was too concerned with drinking beforehand. Luckily I saw them in SF the following week with different people.

Missed Glen Hansard in Long Beach last summer waiting on someone who was stuck in traffic but was lucky to catch him at the Wiltern and SB Bowl.

I saw this Hollywood Bowl show you're talking about. Spoon was really good but I've never been impressed by MGMT.
also missed MGMT and Spoon opening for Beck a couple years ago. But i'm over that now
