Maybe funny is the wrong word but does anyone find it interesting that with almost every band out there putting out remastered versions of almost all of their classic albums, Pearl Jam is pretty much the only one that hasn't done that (outside of Ten)? Vinyl appears to be the in thing right now. They were pretty much the only ones still consistently releasing all of their albums on vinyl so it's surprising they aren't jumping into the re-relase frenzy. I would be willing to bet we will get something cool down the line.

  • we will get something down the line.......but it will be after all the frenzy has died down. PJ is certainly missing the boat on this one.

Two records store days, no PJ released or anything.

Yeah but they are all long out of print other than Backspacer. Most of the re-issues are just that, re-issues of old vinyls. I'd love to see a vinyl box set at some point. I'm not saying it's a necessity or anything, especially since they are all on ebay, but it's interesting they have been pretty much the ONLY mainstream band to not do a re-relase. And when I say only, I mean it. Tons of bands are doing it and it's surprising they aren't.

I dont find it surprising at all that PJ is the only band doing or not doing anything. Especially if everyone else is doing it.
EDIT: I think SONY does hold the rights.

Yeah, Sony owns the rights from Ten to Riot Act. If any vinyl re-issues come out, it will either be through Sony or when Sony sells the rights back to Pearl Jam or some other distributor.

Why would Sony Music drag their feet on guaranteed money? The hold up is something else.

It's puzzling, I'll say that. Maybe a petition of some sort could help? An online thing that we could send to Sony - show them the demand is there?

  • Yeah I agree with your observation.....I have been gathering vinyl for a while...some bands have been harder to come by than others.....ebay is a blessing...sometimes....the price of OOP vinyl can be incredible at times....Stone Temple Pilots have also not re-released their early work(although a pre-order for 'Core' has exsisted on Soundstage forever with no confirmed release date) Soundgarden also have not re-released their original album catalogue....their will be more bands I'm sure....

I am looking forward to a PJ reissue.....Personally I really liked the Ten reissue box. One of those for each album would be very cool... 8-)

  • I've seen TEN reissues with the pink cover. 3 of them actually. They look nice. A bit pricey though. $23.99
Let's see those 2013 dates in the southern states.
