Any means of burying the hatchet in rock is respectable and cool.

Pretty cool story of how it happened, Duff seems like a stand up guy.

Agreed, he writes a weekly commentary piece in a weekly local Seattle paper and he always seems to carry common sense with his thoughts and isn't afraid to make fun of himself. His last one I read mentioned his daughter making fun of him for going to the salon to get highlights put in his hair.

His daughter is friends with my cousin... Apparently he showed up to drop her off to his birthday party, and my uncle did a double take.. Just a really nice guy from everything I've heard.

  • I'm not even a huge fan but I would see a reunited GNR live just because of how impossible of a reunion it would be.

Bugger. Had the opportunity of two FREE tickets to the show but my daughter and I couldn't be bothered in the end. If only we had the slightest thought that Duff may be around!
  • Izzy has played live with the "new" GNR quite a few times, in 2006 if memory serves. So the only person left in this equation is Slash.

And if I recall correctly, Slash and Axl are ok again, as Slash had considered asking Axl to sing on his recent album. However, I can't help but feel that if they all got together AS Guns N Roses, it'd bring up all the squabbling again.

Didn't the original drummer have a stroke? Is he even able to play?

yea he had a stroke from a speedball. he was fired from the band and i can't see him ever coming back into the fold seeing as how much he's been fucked up from drugs.
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
    Sammi: Wanna just break up?

  • Axl and Slash are NOT ok. Axl said recently that he would be dead before he'd be on stage with Slash again. Yes, Slash said he considered asking him, but decided against it because he wanted "this record out this millenium". DIG.

Adler did have a stroke, but he still drums in his own band Adler's Appetite. He's the one who's been pushing for this whole reunion thing for years.

Steven Adler was on That Metal Show towards the end of last season. He talked about Axl, saying they would always be like family, and that he wanted nothing more than to play together again. He is still playing music. I could be wrong, but I really see them all reuniting around their RnR Hall of Fame eligibility, which is only a year or two away. Would be fun to see them perform live again. For all of the drama, they put on a hell of a show when they all hit the stage together back in the day.
  • From what Ive read, Axl is open to playing with all the original members again EXCEPT Slash - I think he recently said he would be dead before they ever played together. I believe Axl said he didnt know to what extent hed play with guys like Duff and Izzy again, but I know now both have now played with him live at the very least.

Agreed with the poster a couple above me. When they were on, they were impossible to beat.

Honestly, I'd rather these guest appearances than a full-blown reunion. By Axl playing with Izzy and Duff (and making up with Matt Sorum), it both lends the old member's blessing to the new band, and shows that Axl has gotten past the bullshit with those guys. It makes me happy to see that these guys have reconciled, happier than a reunion would. Those guys suffered through a lot of shit together, so it's just sad when they can't at least be friends.

Besides that, these guys are all middle-aged and rich these days. There's no chance in hell they'd make anything as good as Appetite for Destruction again, so I'll take Velvet Revolver, Loaded, Slash's solo work, and the new Guns N' Roses over just a reunion.
    Thanks EPOTTSIII!
