Should have been called "Come Around Letdown".

I have been a huge fan of the band since the beginning. And I loved the evolution of the first 3 records...Because of Times is their masterpiece.

But they have completely lost their edge. The new album is decent. But c'mon man...it's like easy listening now.

Big disappointment!

I completely agree. Their first three albums were great, but the last two have been just fluff in my opinion. The newest one is even worse than the last. It is very disappointing and frustrating.

If you are "frustrated" by a bands new album you have too much free time on your hands.

That is a ridiculous and useless comment. It is frustrating...the band showed so much promise and they aren't living up to it.
  • I like the album a lot! It's a lot better than Only By The Night. I think people love to hate KOL these days. They may think their shit doesn't stink and I'm really let down by the fact that they have a really expensive clothing line, but I wont let that get in the way of music I enjoy.

  • I'm not bothered by their success...I'm happy that they finally got mainstream attention in fact.

I've been calling them my second favorite band since their second album. I don't hate on them at all.

OBTN was a step down from the third record...but it was at least interesting.

The new album seems lazy and void of any real emotion. I'm all for evolving as a band. Pearl Jam is my favorite band after all.

But KOL have completely abandoned the spirit of their original music. The new record is a bore...and it pains me to say it.
  • I could care less about their clothes or how popular they are.

They're new stuff sucks. No scientific observations here, just my opinion.

Loved the new album, thought it was better than only by the night. Have to say the stand out track for me is Pickup truck. I think the whole point of the album is that it is a 'chillout' album, hence the name, artwork and music
How I choose to feel is how I am...I will not lose my faith, It's an inside job today.

It's true, just go watch the interviews on their website. I think they accomplished exactly what they set out to do. Excellent record and more diverse than the last one.

I think it sounds more bored than chilled out, but I think the album is pretty solid.
  • After a few more listens, it's growing on me a bit...still a lazy record in my opinion though.

Nothing really stands out for me except for the first track, which is by far the best song on the record.

Nothing bad, but apart from the first track, nothing great either.

I think it's a really good record. Who cares what they are trying to achieve. Either you like it or you don't. Hey, I gotta say, it's better than some PJ records.

i think the album is pretty damn good....yes it is more chill than anything they have ever done, that does not mean that it sucks by any stretch....good for KOL for mixing it up a bit...i'm sure pj fans had the same things to say about no code before it grew on them....

  • You can have a few beers and a conversation over this album, and to me thats alright. It`s alright, and that`s better than I expected so color me suprised ....... I just wish they would lose the slicked up production and I`m affraid Black Keys are trending that direction

Its ok. Not as good as their first three albums. Still not sure if I like it better than their last album. Few songs which i really like and others were pretty good. As compared to their last album which I thought there were a few bad songs and a few good songs mixed with a few ok songs  I said this on anohter thread I think it may be a "grower album" for me though.

I do like No Money (my fav), Pony Up, Mary, Pickup Truck and their single is growing on me, Radioactive.

  • i think this band is always going to be changing their sound. i mean when they started out they had barely even been playing for very long. which seems why those first 2 albums were so stripped down. as theyve become better musicians theyve expanded their sound, like it or not. i seem to remember an article where one of them said they hadnt really started listening to a lot of rock music until they got older. so i'm sure they are still being influenced by a lot of other artists thus i think their sound will continue to morph into all directions. i feel the new record is kind of a mix of the previous and starting to deveolpe "their" sound. i can see why people may be hating on them a bit do to all the exposure, but i think if you give Come Around a fair listen it will prove to be a very good record
    nothing as it seems.....
