Album kicks ass. I prefer it to 'Only by the night'. My fave track is 'pickup truck'

...not gonna be a popular choice here....but I like it.
As with every band that has ever become popular, there is always a backlash!I don't really understand why people on this board are always bashing them, personally I love the Kings and Come around Sundown is an excellent record. Pickup Truck is an instant classic for me, I absolutely love it.

Come around sundown is a great album. I like it more than OBTN, but not sure where I would place it on a ranking list of their albums cause all 3 before OBTN were so good.
"Back down south" is my fave track but I really like "Mi Amigo", "pickup truck", and "the immortals" alot too.
one of the better songs is "celebration" which is of course an itunes exclusive. Its verrry grungy yet totally filled with effects on the vocals and etc. great song. I hated the album at first but I'm starting to dig it. I wish I wasnt saying this considering how much I hated it at first. Oh well
edit: "Celebration" isn't totally an itunes exclusive. You can still buy it separately, just only through itunes.
It's a grower album. I really didn't like it at first, but with a few more listens, it gets a bit better.
Back Down South, Pyro, and PIckup Truck are all great.
I need to decide if I want to see them in Boston or not. I got a bit turned off by their last live show, but with new material, I wonder if it will be a bit better.

This is just what I was about to say....I've been listening to it over and over again since Wednesday when I got it.
I was a big detractor of Only By the Night but I'm liking this album...but like I said...I've been stuck on Back Down South so much I missing a lot of it
Cool songs though...like I told a buddy after one listen...there's nothing that makes me cringe when I listen.
There may be after I study the lyrics a bit but, so far, nothing of the sort
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow
They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all
I don't hate it I just can't feel moved by it, I got into them through the 3rd album and I have the 1st and last album as well, it's too polished. The new single sounded ok reminded me of U2 but the rest just washed over me and nothing really got me excited, I'm certainly not buying this on vinyl, I downloaded it to see if I'd want to purchase it but no thanks.
I just hope the Cold War Kids don't go the same way, the new track they've previewed on Rolling Stone last week I liked but they've definitely polished their sound up a bit and the producer of their new album due out next Jan produced KOL, I'm cautiously confident CWK won't lose their edge.
i really like it too. i think their live preformance (at least from the few show's i've been to) is about a C-, but their studio stuff is great... including this one.
right off the bat i honestly thought this album was incredible.
been listening to it for weeks and i'm still enjoying the hell out of it.
it's really not worth comparing to other albums because it stands up just fine on its own. not a dull song. however, if i had to rank their albums, i truly think my list would look like this:
1.) because of the times
2.) come around sundown
3.) aha shake heartbreak
4.) only by the night
5.) youth and young manhood

Ok I've heard it now and I actually like it. I went in with limited expectations but it's a fun album. 'Pickup Truck' is one of my favorite songs they've ever made.

I really like this album too. 'Pickup Truck' and 'Back Down South' are great songs.
Has anyone else got the 2disc version? The bonus disc has got 'Celebration' (which I think should definitely have been on the album), a version of 'Radioactive' with a choir and a Presets remix of 'Closer' which has become one of my favourite KOL songs very quickly

Definite snoozer. Can you say formulated. I feel like I'm listening to Aerosmith during their mid nineties run. They sure do know how to write a song, but I don't believe them anymore. Loss of artistic credibility. Oh yeah. At first I thought the album sounded great, but It's compressed to shit. When I cranked it on the hi fi there seemed to be alot of distortion. Just my .02
I listened to it start to finish the other day....
Meh....Nothing special. I have a hard time not picturing these guys playing "Sex on Fire" to 15 year old girls. They ruined their edge with the last steaming pile of crap.

Been spinning this quite a bit lately, I forget its on sometimes, it seems to be the perfect background album. Nice and smooth, artwork fits the album perfectly.
