the thing about pilate is it has some of the most insightful lyrics theyve written but then they go and ruin it, well ruin it is strong it just annoys me

I don't care too much for the delivery of the bulk of the song, but the reflection lines I could listen to all day on a loop~!!

I absolutely love Pilate. The 'reflection' part is amazing, some of my favorite PJ lines ever. Was so excited to finally hear this live in Boston back in May.

  • To me, Yield is one of the most "pearl jam" records they've recorded. It really feels like a cohesive album that also isn't afraid to explore a little bit. And Jack Irons fit perfectly for those two albums. That's my take on the whole "Drummer" issue. Each drummer fits well for their respective eras in the band.

Yield is probably my overall favorite, but I do love each one for a different reason.

I do like Pilate, but I gotta be honest, I just can't get over the chorus. The rest of the song, is so good, but that "Like Pilate, I have a dog" just doesn't make any sense!

In Hiding is my all-time fave PJ song, though. What an album!

The first time I listened to Low Light, it sounded so much like a Beatles song to me. It still does to me with the beautiful harmonies in the song.

PJ not playing the south sucks, but Yield doesn't.

A little Yield, live from (gasp) Texas.

Jeff, I know you're looking for a reason to wear that hat again.

    Still the greatest album ever.

It's been way too long since I've listened to Yield from start to finish. I'll be dropping the needle on this tonight.

It is a greeat album in fact, but which isn't? come on, you may like one record more than another, but they all are great, Yield is in the middle of my list, but when Yield came out, I wore it out, I had worn out all the previous ones, specially Vitalogy and Vs, and I wore them all again, but even though I had the four previous CD, with Yield, before it came out, I took the relationship to next level, I got engaged with PJ, I started collecting PJ music stuff and join the 10C for the first time, being Vitalogy and Yield my first waxes...
... I am not in the business of being liked anymore ...

There is something that I love about every PJ album and I too have worn them all out. But my point is, for me (just my opinion) Yield is on another level. It's my favorite album ever, by anyone. And the reason I think it's so incredibly on-another-level brilliant is the collective writing effort. All the members of the band bring a unique approach to song writing, and when combined, it's just magic. Albums that are heavily written by 1 or 2 members, while great, don't compare to Yield for me. I just love watching Single Video Theory and seeing this album come together. It's so balanced from a writing standpoint and the result is a cut above any other record for me.
