simple was grass
simple was splash
simple was red records with small holes

simple was small
simple was child, fun
simple was dog

simple was clothes-pinned blanket tents

simple was lightning bugs in an aunt jemima bottle lantern with breathe holes, with that one lightning bug who always climbed up the skinny handle part

I was that lightning bug
