the couch

Inspiration from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmbUEKFqxDk and some eerily similar personal experiences

maybe our words are futile devices
but its what i have
when we slept on your couch
because it was too soon
for me to spend the night in your bed
we both knew
our words were there and real
even if only whispered
to make sure only one other
could hear, learn this version
of ourselves

and as the night wore on,
and we drifted off
a thin afghan
covering you and one of my arms,
because you insisted i have some,
any warmth we needed
came from the futile devices,
and our bodies,clutched together

the couch was too small,
laughably so, in fact
but both times you fell
i caught you,
and we laughed.
and swapped positions
and when i inevitably
repeated your tumble
you held on
and fell with me
tied together
by limbs, emotions,
and futile devices
"Ah, life is a gate, a way, a path to Paradise anyway, why not live for fun and joy and love or some sort of girl by a fireside, why not go to your desire and LAUGH..."

This one has such a sweet mood when accompanied by that song. :D
