Just wanted to give my best wishes to all christians / catholics who today get their very first saint from australia.
A lot of my freinds and workmates are filled today with a wonderful glow. Its wonderful to see.
Mary MacKillop was a wonderful person regardlless of faith. Ive known quite a few of the nuns of her order and they were always wonderful ladies.
Even though I do not share your beleifs. I do feel a great happiness for you all.
please enjoy your special day.

Please nothing negative in response ( start a thread again if you need )

Yeh it is a great day. I'm not religious anymore, but it is pretty special.

    this could be the day
    hold my hand
    lie beside me
    i just need to say

Irreligious ??? what exactly is the meaning of that??

Do I believ in god- No
Do I beleive the tenants of the catholic faith. No

But after spending yesterday with a group of freinds who do, who were filled with a joy and happiness due to the Cannonisation of mary and remembering a small part of my childhood growing next door to a convent of nuns of the order, all these ladies were really nice happy people.
well Iguess their joy rubbbed on me a bit.
I truly am happy for them.

Well, My father is pretty devote Catholic. By me saying I'm not really religious I mean I don't go to mass or pray on a daily basis or anything. It is still my faith, and I still say the prayers and stuff when I go to church. Which is very rarely.

I went to Catholic schools from K-12, so when they drum it into you, it gets a bit much.

But then on another note, an Australian becoming a saint, that is a big deal, I think Australian's regardless of their faith, whether it be Christian, buddhist, Islamic should appreciate the significance of the occasion.
