between the main streets, are smaller paths
And if I was feeling more open I'd be bouncing out some words tonight
for that's what I want to do this individual evening. I'd run along klatter-patta down cobblestone streets in the dark as I remember so well, maybe the stones are slippery from the moisture? maybe they make that buzzing sound from the cables beneath? in any case, there's that right hollow, klaketty sound. maybe there'd be a lot of us out too rainy late at night? Oooohhhh, I don't know! it's just a sound image from long ago but it's got that feeling. I'd like to be spilling word pictures like a glass too full or a tipping ice cream cone landing splat on the floor. Just deliciously melting into a sticky puddle.Early this morning I heard a phrase from a song as if for the first time, even though I've heard it without thinking about it so many times before:
"With this very unpleasing sneezing and wheezing the calliope crashed to the ground" at a stop light this morning, I heard that same old phrase but this time I noticed the words as words, and realized it was a good, poetic, sentence. and I wondered why I hadn't noticed the language in that song before?the way it hums along and paints the song with more than a random story. I heard it and I wished I could pour out good words sometimes. too many words!fast!rhythmic! good to hear! I thought it isn't a waste of time to try to insert sounds into the middle of phrases with pictures. I started thinking of old old history bearing songs that were many more verses long and at that golden moment, I thought it might occasionally be wispy wonderful to talk too much and talk too long and to tell us all a painfully tall winding wandering mysterious tale.
