So Keith Richards' new autobiography, Life, comes out soon, and in it he says:

LONDON - Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards describes frontman Mick Jagger as unbearable in his soon-to-be published autobiography.

Richards says he and Jagger used to be friends but have been estranged for decades. The details about his strained relationship with Jagger are spelled out in Richards' book "Life," which will be published Oct. 26.

In an interview published Friday in The Times newspaper, Richards says he has given up drugs since he required brain surgery after falling from a tree in Fiji in 2006.

He says he and Jagger are discussing another possible Stones tour despite their differences.

how the hell does a band write music together, tour together, etc, when the two main members find each other unbearable??? I couldn't stand my lead guitarist; never played out, released one EP, that's it, I quit cause I couldn't take him anymore. I'm pretty sure if we had been like that for decades one of us would have ended up dead!

    Have you seen Keith Richards? He's appeared to be dead for years!!!!
    hippiemom = goodness
  • I can't believe Keith was still on drugs up to 2006. I once heard it said if there were a world-consuming nuclear holocaust, the only survivors would be cockroaches and Keith Richards. The joke also works if you say Cher instead.

    Anyhow, you can't be in a band with people you don't like. It simply doesn't work. Often times, the biggest jerk in the band is the lead singer or drummer. But then again, I'm just a bassist... ;)

    If someone said hey I'll pay you a billion dollars over the next 20 years, the only catch is you have to make and perform music with someone you find unbearable, I think I'd be able to garner up the tolerance to make it happen.

    Musically they never have to see eachother since they do overdubs. They're rich enough so they don't have to tour together on the same bus....or plane. They have seperate dressing rooms before the show starts. On stage they can just do their own thing and be in their own world. The only time they'll have to put a smile on their face is for photo-ops.
