Eddie Vedder
The Pearl Jam singer was born Edward Louis Severson III on December 23, 1964.

He was raised as Edward Mueller, thinking that his step-father, Peter Mueller, was his biological father.

When he found out that he wasn’t the musician took on his mom’s maiden name: Vedder.


I'm sure all you people already knew this but I had no idea till today :D

    All already public knowledge given eV's openness early on...

    But I still wonder if he finds it creepy that people know details of his life that are so specific?

    Don't worry, I'll assume his answer to my question would be "yes" and forget that I even asked it when I hit *submit.*

    But did you know his first name is Ed, because his mom is a huge Iron Maiden fan, which is why Eddie hates them.

    It's still very interesting. It's one of those things that if you heard it, you would think it was from a book or movie, interesting to know that "twist" like that occurs in real life. He's actually started opening up and sharing a little about it himself, I think he talks a bit in Storytellers about how the song was about "somebody he didn't know very well at the time" than he eludes to himself. I'm sure Eddie is way past finding this creepy that all of us know this much about him. I don't think he will start to get worried until somebody post what brand of deodorant he uses and what time of day he showers. ;)

    while we're on the subject (not of febreeze, but ev's birth)...if you guys have the Book 5x1...the page that has Gloria Steinem's writing on it.

    Is it me or does she make it sound as if Eddie was adopted (in her eyes)? I believe she uses that word. Or it could be she's making an analogy. Or it could be that I can't read.

    Quite a badass name. Not gonna lie. Stone Gossard might be one of the greatest names of all time. Even better since Stone is his real name.

    I find it interesting in breaking down his original name.

    Sever-son. Sever son. A son severed from his original family, name and identity.

    AND that "Vedder" means "(Origin Dutch) Father, or literally begetter, feeder."
