this is a very good slideshow showing moving photos of daily life in the illegal settlements in the west bank and highlights the effects of the israel/palestinian conflict...you should check them out to at least see what it looks like and the effects it has on the people living there...there are only 17 pics and i wanted to post them here but i could not due to the size restriction, so i will just post the link instead. the captions of each pic tell the story. it is quite interesting and educational....

also here is a link to an israeli motorist running over some young palestinians who apparently were throwing rocks in protest ...
there is no justification for vigilantism like this....even if stones were thrown...the pic is pretty graphic and dramatic by the way...

Isn't deliberately running someone over a case of attempted murder? Though I suspect the Israeli's will classify it as self-defence like they do everything else, including shelling residential neighbourhoods and bombing U.N safe houses.
i am worried about the consequences of this action, because you know those kids have parents and aunts and uncles and maybe even older brothers who might act in retaliation, and then the idf will retaliate and then it will just escalate.

if you check youtube you will see that there are a couple of versions of the 2 children being hit by the car. one version is edited and you only see the vehicle appear to swerve in front of the kids and hit them.
the other version which appears to be unedited shows the children running towards the car as it comes around a corner. it appears that whichever way the driver goes he is going to hit someone. it doesn't look like a deliberate act to just hunt someone down.
in the unedited version there are cameramen standing there with their cameras more interested in getting footage of the event than actually helping the injured kids. it's fucken revolting and sickening.
i for one, am sick to death of the bullshit and fighting in the media that portrays these incidents but does absolutely nothing to address the real issue.
the real issue is that the majority of those children have lived under occupation and siege all of their lives. fuck off the settlers and make Israel abide by International Law for once and then you won't see incidents like this will you.
think about what it must be like for those children every single day. every god damn single day.
is it any wonder they throw stones?
how the fuck would YOU act?
after you showed me the edited and unedited videos of the 'settlers running over little kids' i agree with this post.
the car had nowhere to go, the kids charged the car. and that's not to excuse any of them. thank you for sticking to reality.
but what would bring kids to that point, where they are throwing stones and running at cars? that's the issue isn't it?

warning that it's very graphic.

some of the youtube comments are just repulsive.
i hope my point wasn't lost in my post. that was that these kids have lived under occupation and siege all of their lives.
that's what has to change.
yes that's the issue.
thanks for posting the links, and yes the comments were disgusting..why couldn't they post a story with that picture? because that picture does not tell any of the story other than the kids were throwing rocks and 2 got ran over by an israeli motorist. i did not think to look for this on youtube. i guess i'm an asshole for taking the picture and making assumptions on the context with the limited info i had on that website....
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
Yep, that kid definitely needs to learn his green cross code. Running at cars isn't the smartest thing to be doing.
hey now, that was not my point.
a very wise person once told me that i should double check everything before i post otherwise hasbara will try to call you on any inconsistencies and then use that to undermine all the good work that we are trying to do which is ultimately to defend Palestinian Human Rights.
and you do a good job at defending those rights. that's all that matters.
and you are right, i need to be better about double checking things. it is just i saw the picture, and the caption, got upset, and posted it here without thinking to check youtube. i'm normally better than that...

From one of the captions. As long as they believe this, there will be no peace. I didn't realise the settlements were that big, with apartment buildings and all.
What gets me are the children, whichever 'side' they come from. They either seem to be 'indoctrinated' (ie putting stuff in the cement mixer or writing on bombs ready to be dropped on Gaza) or have to face the very harsh reality of occupation/fighting (homes destroyed in front of them, land taken away taunted by jewish kids, death, fear) so young. What these kids are taught/going through now shapes them for the rest of their lives - not a very good prospect - from either side.
you mentioned the picture of the kid putting rocks into the cement mixer to celebrate the starting up of construction in the settlements. that kid is what, 8-10 years old? do they really understand what they are celebrating, or is it that they sense a festive atmosphere and want to participate because they are encouraged to? same with the rock throwing kids. would they do that on their own or would there have to be adults for them to model their behavior after? it is just like the little kids holding up "god hates fags" signs at soldier's funerals...they would never do that on their own...
the beginning of change starts within each individual family on both sides.
