I saw Roger Waters perform the Wall last night at the Garden; it was an amazing show. The band was very tight and the staging was spectacular. Comfortably Numb isnt the same without Gilmour, but still at great night.

    Better had been for the price of the tickets, they were stupidly expensive here.
  • Apparently Gilmour will be a surprise guest at 1 show on the tour to perform comfortably numb
    {if (work != 0) {
    work = work + 1;
    sleep = sleep - work * 10;}
    else if (work >= 0) {
    reality.equals(false);
    work = work +1;
    }system("pause");
    return 0;}

    exact

    I have ticket for "The Wall" in Madrid in March 25 2011... I can't wait to see the best concert in the history of Rock ... well, isn't the best because the greater is "The Wall" with Pink Floyd, but with Roger is the closer I can get...

    I caught last night's show as well (nov 6). I sat a little farther back this time, so i had a different perspective on the "Wall". Another great show (no gilmour-- my guess is he shows up in London)

    I just caught the show in Philly last night.

    I just have to say it was really awesome for me. The Wall is one of my all time faves and the first album I got into. As a result I listened to the massive vinyl set many a time (when i hear songs, I still know where the record may skip).... and later on the walkman. Every note is engrained in my head.

    Anyone who isnt a big fan, or is a huge Floyd fan expecting a throwback to old form would walk away disappointed I think.

    It was also a little awkward seeing Comfortably Numb and Run Like Hell (among others) without Gilmour. They had a guy that sounded like him tucked off somewhere, but its way off. I would die to see Gilmour and Waters get together.

    Waters kills in his performance though. Standouts were both In The Fleshes, Bring The Boys Back Home, and Waiting for The Worms. Everything was pretty solid though.

    A nice show too with the props of the flying pig, the air-puppet monsters of the teacher, mother, and the wife. Great imagery too and a nice mix of The Wall with current issues (but didnt overdo it).
  • As a teenager, I was obsessed with "the wall". I played it so much my parents hid it from me. I saw the movie about 30 times in the theater and countless times on video. I was also obsessed with the idea of seeing the show live in the 70s probably because of the music but also of the idea of the production involved. I was intrigued with the idea of a show so huge, it could only be done in two American cities.

    That said, I am not a huge Pink Floyd fan. I own Dark side of course, but never had the interest in seeing it performed live by Waters. In the late eighties, I saw "Gilmour floyd" and was impressed but alas, it can only ever feel like 50% without Waters. I felt the same about the Wall live, without Gilmour, it can only feel like 50%.

    As "Theater", I give the Wall a 10 out of 10. As a rock concert, 4 out of 10. Waters by himself isn't compelling as an artist. The art in this case is more important than the artist.
