    maaan if a white judge said "no thats a deal thats only given to black boys" he would have been forced out on a rail.

    Even if this is what the judge believed, he is an idiot for admitting to it in open court. He did the right thing by recusing himself from the case.

    Whether or not the prosecutor is racist, this was a very foolish way for the judge to address it. The judge should first collect evidence from similar cases and determine if there are different trends based on race.

    Exactly. And because of judges such as this, I do not have 100% complete faith in our courts system. Which is why I have swapped my opinion on the death penalty. Our courts have human flaws and there exists a chance that a verdict or made or sentences pronounced that are wrong.

    just look at prison population. the majority is minorities. i'm sure the judge knew this.



    but yeah, he could have handled it differently.

    You know, I think that's true.
    Not saying that racism isn't still a huge problem, but these days some people use it as an excuse for anything (not saying that this judge did or a majority do, just to make that clear, but some do.)

    It's like this one time I had a black caribbean lady (who is the world's worst customer, so I have faith that it is her personality more than anything to do what she does or say waht she does). Anyways, she was bringing something back past the store's return policy and when I told her I wasn't allowed to return it she said something about I wouldn't help her because she was black. ....WHAT?
    So i said, "you're being difficult because I'm ASIAN."

    Yeah welcome to Vancouver, everybody is something. ;)
