Alter Bridge - Slip To The Void

OK so I have no doubt that there will be plenty of people queuing up to bash them, but this new song is pretty damn good. The opening is really creepy sounding, then it goes all prog(!), then a belting chorus, good stuff! Flame away

hahahaha just kidding, love me some new alter bridge, definately an interesting song, i find myself constantly flipping back after the intro finishes to this song.....listened to the album a few times, need to let it sink in a bit more but right now there are definately some fillers on this album, blackbird still takes the cake for me atm.
My only complaint is sometimes there songs are too much,...like to complicated. I think their best song are their simplest. But again, this could just be a testiment to how good of musicians these guys are.

Yeah the album kind of leaked a few days ago when Roadrunner's German site put it up to stream, and it was pretty easy to get a decent rip.
In general I'm enjoying the record, some very solid stuff on there. Like joely said, I think there's a bit of filler, but at 14 tracks long that's probably to be expected. As always Myles is on stunning form, dude's voice is insane!
No kidding about his voice....i remember reading a review on blackbird (the album) and for the song blackbird the reviewer mentioned this one part where he holds a note for around 30 or so seconds....went and had a listen again to it and sure enough its a pretty high note that he holds for a while.....then watching sweet child o'mine at an acoustic concert he did again holding a high note for about 20 seconds.....and after listening to the last lines of words darker then their wings.....they must have testicle clamps put on him during the end of that song...the guy is amazingly talented, and obviously doesnt write songs like "you will sore" looking at you mr stapp...cant believe they decided to work with him again...creed should of stayed dead
Yeah it is absolutely shocking that they would want to go back and work with such a talentless hack, Myles Kennedy is approximately five billion times more talented than Scott Stapp will ever be.
I burned a copy of Mayfiled Four's Second Skin the other day for a friend, we put it on on his massive sound system, which he insisted on playing at full volume (his neighbours must love him!), and when it got to the end of Summergirl where he pulls out that blinding ascending note, my mate just had a massive grin on his face, and commented "fucking hell he's a bit good"! For the longest time I thought only Chris Cornell and Jeff Buckley could pull off that really high stuff with such power, and then along came Myles Kennedy who is like a perfect mix of both those singers. I don't know if Alter Bridge is the best vehicle for showing off his voice - as much as I enjoy it, I can understand why some might be put off based on some of their more generic material, but they do have some genuinely brilliant songs.
That mayfield 4 album has a few good songs on it to....cant seem to find their first one though. Even though australia probably wont see alter bridge for a while atleast I have soundwave next year with slash to look forward to

Unfortunately the band kind of panders to the Creed fans now and then with sappy songs like Broken Wings, Rise Today, etc., but if it means we can get songs like Find the Real, Blackbird, and now Slip to the Void... I'll take it.

I have to agree some of their songs really sound creed-esque, there's one on the new album "life must go" on that i swear could of been a creed song, the intro reminds me of one last breath and my sack of rice... i was almost waiting for stapps douchy vocals to pop up :? ...i think its redeeming factors is myles vocals, i can now stomache the song a little more.
Glad I did. Some decent tunes on there. Liking it, good album to have playing in the car!

PEARL JAM- 12/6/13 I have finally seen Pearl Jam live!
I was totally going to say the exact same thing. A bit odd... especially considering Creed's early comparisons to Pearl Jam and that Vitalogy was also their 3rd release.
Surely doesn't seem to be pure coicidence.
Seeing the cd in the flesh it doesn't look that similar - although Vitalogy did spring to mind when I first saw it. Also similar to Ryan Adams' Cold Roses.
