It's the end of the world....
And we're all getting on a ship to travel to a new world and start over again!

You can bring up to 5 books to share with the future generations of humans.

Think hard about what you think is important for the people of the future.

What will you bring? (fiction, non-fiction, textbooks, anything is welcome) :D

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

The kind with all the books in one. So it counts as just the one. Or it may count as five if I can't think of any other books. :P

okay, pandora, spill the beans. I saw 2012. Where is the ship and how much are the insanely expensive tickets? :D just kidding. books? ah, heck. if the world's ending soon, who has time for books.

    cheers!

another, now 3, is The Gold Coast by Nelson DeMille. Full of American history, extravagance, violence, character study and relationships, awesome novel.
  • Breakfast of Champions -- Kurt Vonnegut (I believe he once called it a handbook for aliens on human life or something to that effect...seems appropriate)
To Kill a Mockingbird -- Harper Lee
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest -- Ken Kesey
House of Leaves -- Mark Z. Danielewski
    Generation A -- Douglas Coupland
    great list!

i was actually thinking of Galapagos for my Vonnegut choice (fitting for island castaways)... but hell, lets add Breakfast, Slaughterhouse, and Cat's Cradle too

so I got one left... um... Can I choose a collection of short stories? I would want "the Death of Ivan Ilyich" and most of Hemingways stuff

my list could really use some less depressing reading :? :)

anything from Sedaris would be good
