Anyone picked up his new solo album yet?!

Not heard any tracks off it yet myself, was wondering what kind of direction he's heading in these days!

  • Here's a copy of the email Serj sent out about 10 days ago. There's a couple of links in there if you want to check out the new album.

Ahoy Friends, Fiends and Friars :

I am extremely excited to announce the release of my new solo record, "Imperfect Harmonies" on Tues Sept 21st.

It represents a whole new sound, one that is a result of my musical experiences starting from System, to my 1st solo record Elect the Dead, to the orchestral Elect the Dead Symphony, to the present. It is an adventurous departure, some may say, from what I'm known for. Maybe it is.

But if there are any whom I consider as adventurous musical fiends as I, it is you, the friends and fans of System Of A Down.

After all, when System released our self-titled debut in 1997, it is you who understood us, not radio, not MTV, and certainly not the music industry.

Check out the link below to listen to some music and watch a couple of videos from 'Imperfect Harmonies'

If you like what you hear, come join me later today at 7PM PST at http://www.ustream.tv/serjtankian where we'll be doing a live video/audio stream of the whole 'Imperfect Harmonies' album from the studio where the live orchestra was recorded. I'll be doing a live video chat after the album playback is finished and answer some questions from all of you.

    Thanks for listening.

    Peace,
    Serj

Cheers for that Fender_Man, much appreciated.

    I'll definitely check it out.

Serj is a very talented guy, I'm sure whatever he's come up with will be great.

    Thanks again.

yeah, thanks for the link! i will check it out later.

system of a down getting back together would be awesome, i saw them on the tour in between those last two albums and they were phenomenal! a very solid band.

there probably is/was some tension, as there can be with multiple creative people. in an interview with daron in a guitar magazine before the first of those two came out it came out he drives a hummer that gets 11mpg...of course who knows the full context and what was edited out but the only printed reply was that all of them were hypocrites in ways, even serj...

their first two albums are amazing, i don't think the last two are as strong, way too much daron singing or doing a yoko ono impression or whatever you want to call it. i've always thought he was a little too much of a contrast from sej in personality (but they still make great music together) and it's gotta be hard for serj to write many of those songs and have your main creative partner driving a hummer.

i would much rather a system of a down album than another serj or scars of broadway album. speaking of which i saw a new, sealed copy of that album on vinyl for $5 or $6 the other week
    don't compete; coexist

what are you but my reflection? who am i to judge or strike you down?

"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank." - Barack Obama

when you told me 'if you can't beat 'em, join 'em'
i was thinkin 'death before dishonor'
  • Its not bad, not a homerun either. That Elect the Dead Symphony is out of this world though.

Finally picked the new one up! Strange! Gonna take some getting used to!
On first impression it's not bad, but not great! He's either a genuis or completely mad!

Loved Elect the Dead and Elect the Dead Symphony (the DVD of that was pretty cool too!).

But, gotta agree with those saying a new SOAD album would be welcome!

This album did grow on me. Was very puzzled after the first listen and being a fan of all of his previous works, but it is pretty good. That being said... a SOAD reunion would rule. A new Scars on Broadway in meantime would be nice too.

He needs to head in the direction of Daron Malakian and save us all from their solo output.

You mean, physically, head in Daron's direction so they can play together...?

SOAD was definitely greater than the sum of its parts.

Serj Tankian opened up for the Foo Fighters when i saw them in Philly at the Spectrum...

it was the worst piece of $hit performance i have ever seen. disgusting lyrics and just a bunch of noise and screaming. honestly seemed like NOBODY was digging it. i even booed it was so horrible
