Trying to get to the bottom of the story, hopefully it's nothing more than a post album/tour break and they get back at it by 2012.

I think this band is finito mate. If they come back, it'll be without Weiland.

  • I think it's funny in this day and age that every time a band isn't on tour or in the studio it's called being "on hiatus" and everyone thinks they are breaking up. I guess in STP's case, it's justified giving the band's/weiland's history, but I won't worry about this just yet.

Actually, I have a new album, saw them twice on the tour, so if they do break up, I'm fine with it.

Make ammends with Slash and make a new VR record. Dave Kushner needs something to do.

No way, they cannot replace Scott. He has been singer far too long for them to be able to get away with it. AIC got away with it because AIC didn't have too long of a run in the 90's, Jerry wrote a lot of the lyrics, and Layne was dead so they wouldn't have fans who chose to follow Layne over new AIC. With STP Scott writes all of the lyrics and has been the singer (outside of the 5 year break) for over 20 years.

this doesn't bother me one bit b/c i've never been a fan of theirs. however, i do hope that Weiland gets the help he needs before it's too late.

STP has some great songs, no doubt about it. I was even impressed with the new album. However, I refuse to ever spend money on seeing this band live. I was going to see them in January and they cancelled (although rumors were they were finishing the new record). They cancelled before we bought the tix, so no money lost; but, I just don't want to see them live, and maybe get a great show, or a mediocre (cause Scott is wasted show). Not worth the amount of 50 bucks to me.

On a personal note, I do hope Weiland is getting the help he needs, ans wish him the best in staying clean. I know addiction is a demon and it just really grabs ahold of some people. I hope he pulls through, for himself and his family.

I do enjoy their songs though.

I've always liked them but I have only seen them once (right before the first breakup) but honestly I tired of their shtick and didn't even buy the new record nor bother to go see them on this tour after reading so many bad reviews and accusations of lip syncing and Scott barely being functional, etc. I'd rather spend my money on professionals, thanks.

The STP band just needs to dump Scott and try again with someone else like they did with Talk Show or whatever that band was.

  • I'll give them their due. I saw them twice in within 8 months and both times they were on the money. The crowd was dead for the first one (weeknight arena show before new album), but the second one (Rock On The Range Canada-outdoor festival, sunny, new album out, awesome) they killed. Scott (and the whole band) were on their A game.

  • the Talk Show album was awesome. Too bad it died commercially, they could have gone somewhere. I'm not sure if they split because of poor album sales or only because it was only ever supposed to be a one-off with no/little touring while Scott was in prison.

    SSS? do you know?

I agree that the talk show album is great. I gathered from their wikipedia page that it was poor album sales. As great as we think the album is, it just didn't do well publically to the masses.
The De Leos tried Army of Anyone, and again it was a commercially failure in the masses. That is one of the main reasons I think they have tried to make STP work and stick it out beween the personal issues. It is dissapointing that the Deleos work in other bands was not as well recieved because Them and Eric Kretz make a great team. He wasn't with them in Army of Anyone- I think that was Ray Luzier who know drums for Korn permenantly. So I don't really look at it as a money issue, it's just that the De Leo bros haven't been able to rekindle the success they have with STP but I give em credit for trying cause Talk show was a very good album.
