Austin City Limit rumor
I thought the ACL rumors may have come from a quote in the 2/21/08 Rolling Stone Mag. In an article on page 15 titled "Top Festivals Battle for Big Names," Charles Attal of C3 Presents used Pearl Jam as an example in his quote concerning Lollapalooza.
"I always go after midtier and baby bands first," says the Texas promoter who also books Austin City Limits. "That leaves flexibility at the top. If Pearl Jam comes in and says, 'We want to be the headliner,' than great."
Because Attal books both Lolla and ACL - some people might assume the quote was a hint about ACL and not just an example of how bands are sometimes booked and he used PJ as his example because he had just recently booked them in 2007 Lolla.
The article goes on to state that many big acts refuse to sign on until 3 months before the festival. This might explain why it seems like tour news is being with held when it hasn't really been finalized.
Just an idea . . .

I wish a guy like Eddie, would like me.

No, just took time to try to participate and kind of got shit on - thanks for your input
It's not a slight on you or your information.
It's just that when a band member says they're playing ACLFest, that's pretty good evidence that they will. Perhaps you weren't aware of that discussion here yet?

Didn't think you were - some of the follow ups felt kind of snarky and I wanked.
Slinking back into my corner and resuming fetal position - been that kind of a week. No more posting for me till my happy pill kicks in.
Sure I remember talk about ACL before someone posted about Jeff or Mike or whoever mentioned it to them (think Mike). I thought it was just confirmed by Mike, which has made ppl more excited now they have it from a reliable source, could be wrong though. Thanks for posting Kieran, was an interesting read.
