  • You're not alone! Know that.

A few years ago I had this. At the time the self-titled album had just been released. The whole piece of work is just so phenomenal, you can really hear how the times have changed with the band. Like you mentioned, anger, lonliness, depression that lined some on the band's early albums finally gave way to hope in this one.

During my times of pain, anxiety, depression, and I feel the music is soothing - I listen to Come Back and Inside Job over and over again. Come Back provides a back drop for the feelings, Inside Job provides the solution.

How you choose to feel, is how you are. Don't lose your faith, it's an inside job today. Rise and face your broken soul, again!

Of course, music ins't the only thing that'll help. But for purposes here - Inside Job is just too good to be true.

from the song Down - "if hope could grow from dirt like me, it can be done!"
How I choose to feel, is how I am.

Thank you to those of you who have replied or sent me messages. Your suggestions and kind words have helped, tremendously.

Self Titled, as a whole, has been and continues to be a wonderful companion to me right now. Each song on Self Titled is infused with hope set within real wants, desires, needs and confusion.

I've recently gone through some very tough times, and I guess I still am in the midst of it. I suppose I could start a thread about my ordeal, but that's straying off topic. I have actually found it difficult to connect with songs from PJ. One morning Society, Nothingman, and Thumbing My Way played back to back to back, and that sure as hell wasn't a good combination of songs for someone mourning/depressed/angry. I think that's one of the beautiful things about this band, the full range of emotions in their songs. Just thinking of Can't Keep brings tears to my eyes.

  • wow yeah this is a hard one... As the old Pearl Jam shirt goes.. Never Give Up...
The point to that is you have to succeed for you.. no one else can do that for you. I'm sorry you're going through this, I had to rely on PJ alot when my GF of 3 years died suddenly.. I didn't have ANY support on that one.. my family knew nothing of her cause I was a coward (didn't wnat anyone to know I was gay)..But PJ got me through it..just have faith.. it'll all come together in the end I promise..

I believe Pearl Jam is a creator of hope because they don't hide pain behind anger. They seem like they've learned and done so much because they give love despite pain felt. If all of this is about something, fuck if that isn't it.

Thanks for reading. Enjoy your ride.

Living is no laughing matter: you must live with great seriousness like a squirrel for example - I mean without looking for something beyond and above living, I mean living must be your whole occupation.
