I used to carve 'artistic' pumpkins and with my last job it was too stressful/exhausting to be able to come home and work on my projects. Now that I am home all the time, I finally got my 'groove' back...they have always been musically inspired and well this year's honoree is our favorite....

I can make a pie as well...though pie from this one would be 'foam-pie'....as it is a fake pumpkin.:lol::lol: (at least it won't rot :D )

    It's a fake pumpkin?!?

    Why is it fake?

   ...I've spent hours on the carvings I have done previously...and I feel bad when it gets all mushy and starts to fall over. This one took me about 7 hours, I wanted to make sure it would come out good. Carving foam is harder then carving a real one too....maybe I'll give it away here on the boards....

If I find a photo that is graphically appealing then I'll carve a real one and post it. 'k? :D
(I am looking at the 'Ten' photo as we speak....) ;)

You should mosey over to the Doggie Thread and see Haffajappa's silhouette photo from today. It would make a gorgeous pumpkin. But then, I have a strong bias towards the dogs... ;)

{sigh} yes...and I would have to carve a 'kin of my own dogs before I carve someone else's dog...I try to keep it general....the other half wants me to carve a NFL helmet of his favorite team...I have the plans sketched out now....good thing pumpkins are cheap

  • I sometimes wonder if trick or treating will still be around in the future? It seems like it gets less and less every year. I'm sure Halloween will continue to be a tradition, but kids going door to door and getting candy from strangers might be something our grandchildren will only know about through our stories.

  • Last year was the first time since I moved out of my parents house that I lived in a decent enough neighborhood to give out candy and not worry about being shot. It was actually pretty fun to meet some neighbors! But I was surprised to see maybe a half dozen kids between 7-12 years old come up and ask for candy with NO costume whatsoever. Now I understand some dont have the cash for this, but make an effort if you're going to come asking for free candy...some string and a paper plate and a marker...

last year was the first time in our house, and we were in a hotel on Halloween as the power was out from Hurricane Sandy. We live on a road where the houses are far apart, so not sure what to expect - I am thinking we won't have too many trick or treaters.

I haven't been able to talk to any neighbors to see if the kiddies come around door to door-I've heard most go to the mall for candy now. There are a lot of stairs to the front door...maybe that will keep them away
