My earliest memory is being a baby staring at the ceiling and the pictures on the walls
in my grandparents bright back bedroom
I had this thought that
well-trained babies who learn to quietly wait in their cribs for breakfast in the morning
(instead of screaming and crying to be fed)
must be the same people who passively wait
for life to come get them
Oh, I can say this without malice for
I was a well-trained, patient, baby in my crib
and I've noticed that waiting for life to come and get me
feels so very similar
it feels just like waiting for grammy to bring me a smile and a lift outta bed
And, I don't think it's good to be a patient baby forever!!
