we never say goodbye0

I had an uncle who was my "father", strong, tough, quiet, generous, all knowing, etc. He passed away a few years back, knew he was dying, had an evening of friends at the local VFW.
Man of the hour is the soundtrack for him and his life. All of his friends, nearly all of our very small town, came to see him and say goodbye. It was the last time that many saw him.
And the 'SKY BREAKS' at dawn; shedding light upon this town
They’ll all come ‘round
Cause the man of the hour is taking his final bow
Goodbye for now.
And the road
The old man paved
The broken seams along the way
The rusted signs, left just for me
He was guiding me, love, his own way0 -
Quite a lot for me but Long Road stands out, particularly the Dead Man Walking version with Nusrat. Face Of Love too from the same album especially when heard within the context of the movie.Manchester 17.8.09, Manchester 21.6.12, Copenhagen 10.7.12, Manchester 28.7.12 (EV), Phoenix 19.11.13, San Diego 21.11.13, LA 23.11.13, LA 24.11.13, Vienna 25.6.14, Leeds 8.7.14, London 6.6.17 (EV), London 18.6.18, Krakow 3.7.18, London 17.7.18, Dublin 3.7.19 (EV)0

Man of the HourWell, fuckers, he still stands.0

The saddest thing I have ever heard is Eddie's poem set to a simple rif that is very rare.
It is titled, "Im still here"
Look it up.....it will rip your heart out, and stomp on it a few times.I'm still here.....0 -
The song "Sad"
The lyrics are, well, sad....seems to be about a man whose wife/girlfriend has died suddenly...
"If one wish could bring her back..."
"There is no God with a plan..."
"His lonliness is proof..."
That's my interpretation of it....and it's not one of the "popular" songs.Who the f*ck goes around skinning cats~~Ed
It all comes down to changing your head~~John Lennon

"All or None". Especially now in my life....and "I'm still here" is one that stomps on my heart but only adding to the damage I already did myself, but yeah.True freedom is a freedom from the chains you've wrapped around yourself.0

Come Back......0
-
I've used hammers made out of wood
I have played games with pieces and rules
I undeciphered tricks at the bar
But now you're gone, I haven't figured out why
I've come up with riddles and jokes about war
I've figured out numbers and what they're for
I've understood feelings and I've understood words
But how could you be taken away?
And wherever you've gone
And wherever we might go
It don't seem fair... Today just disappeared
Your light's reflected now, reflected from afar
We were but stones, your light made us stars
With heavy breath, awakened regrets
Back pages and days alone that could have been spent, together...
But we were miles apart
Every inch between us becomes light years now
No time to be void or save up on life
You got to spend it all...
And wherever you've gone
And wherever we might go
It don't seem fair... You seem to like it here
Your light's reflected now, reflected from afar
We were but stones, your light made us stars
And wherever you've gone
And wherever we might go
It don't seem fair... Today just disappeared
Your light's reflected now, reflected from afar
We were but stones, your light made us stars0 -

Come Back, for sure.
Low Light kinda has that feeling too.
"Can I be here all alone, clear a path to my home..."0 -
I'd probably add Elderly Woman to that too...not necessarily because it's "sad," but because it's nostalgic for me. I'm from a small town in nowhere, Indiana, and even though we moved when I was 8, I spent a lot of time there growing up. Whenever I went to my first PJ concert in '98 my mom and I were still living there (and also listening to Vs. on repeat), so every time I hear that song, or any other song from Vs. really, it makes me think of that time period of my life. Haha now I have the shittiest of shitty relationships with my mom, but I still think of the "good ole days" whenever I listen to that album.0

Yellow Ledbetter.
I feel an overwhelming sense of sadness every time I hear it played live.0 -
Love Reign O'er Me.
Don't think this is widely regarded as a soppy one. It's just so powerful and always hits my weepy spot20-04-2006 04-09-2006 05-09-2006 11-09-2006 16-09-2006 17-09-2006 18-06-2007 21-06-2007 26-06-2007 28-06-2007 17-08-2009 20-05-2010 21-05-2010

Nothingman. Without a doubt.
empty stares, from each corner of a shared prison cell
one just escapes, one's left inside the well0
