Oceans Single - Flaws??

Hello,

I was hoping someone would help me with this. I recently purchased a used copy of the "Oceans" single and am now wondering if there is something wrong with it. When I first played it, I noticed what seemed to be flaws in the audio during "Alive." These flaws happen at 4:47 and 4:52 in the song. As the CD was used and scratched up a bit, I attempted to return it. They were willing to take it back, but offered to "resurface" the CD for me for free. Since I still want a copy of this single, I agreed.

I got it back today and the CD definitely looks a lot cleaner than before, but the two flaws in the audio are still there. So, now I'm wondering if they were just flaws in the live audio and are present on every CD. I listened to this song (recorded June 8, 1992) on one of the bootleg sites and definitely couldn't hear the flaws on that recording.

So, could someone who owns this single please tell me if they hear it too or is my CD just flawed and I need to take it back? I'm sure the store would be willing to refund my purchase (it wasn't that much), but if they are just flaws in the live audio, then I'll keep it!

Thanks for your help!

What kind of flaws do you hear (skips, gaps, etc..)? I have the digipack version, and I cannot hear any flaws in any of the four songs..
  • Hmmm - good question. Not skips nor gaps. It kind of sounds like scratches on a record. But loud enough to notice - especially the one at 4:47. It could have been feedback during the performance, but I didn't hear it on the bootleg (which comes from a radio broadcast, so it's pretty clear).

If you don't hear it after a couple of listens, it's probably not there and my CD is just f'ed up! :-)
