I would have to go back and see what came out that year to give a good list but i feel pretty confident this would be there for me too. It gets a lot of "pitchfork" hype but it is a really cool album.

Wasn't sure what albums came out in 98 so I did a quick search.....There are literally 2 albums that I could find from 1998 that I ever listen to.

    Yield
    System of a Down S/T

98 was the beginning of my PJ love affair but I had only discovered cool music the year before, and it was still Zeppelin 97% of the time for me.
  • I don't know how complete the list I was looking at was....but '98 -- the year that gave us the gawd-awful Van Halen III -- wasn't much of year.
Aside from Yield, I'll throw in...
    Beastie Boys "Hello Nasty"
    Clapton "Pilgrim"
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all

Yeah I remember a really embarrassing incident with that record. I bought it at the airport just before I was off on a family holiday to Florida, I was listening to it on my discman in the departure lounge, and when it got to the "and all the tears we cried" part of Everybody Here Wants You, I promptly burst into tears! For some reason it really hit a nerve. I got a lot of strange looks!

    REM's Up.

Also, the Lucinda Williams and Mermaid Avenue are favs of mine.
  • I never got into/listened to Celebrity Skin (except Malibu which I do like)....is it that good?
  • Pearl Jam - Yield
    REM - Up
DMB - Before The Crowded Streets
    Jerry Cantrell - Boggy Depot
    Garbage - Version 2.0

This would be my 5 favorite with from '98 with Yield and Up by far my favorite two. I played the hell out of those two CD's. 1998 could be split up like this for me:

Late Jan. - June = Heavy on Yield

June through Sept.(Summer) DMB, Cantrell, & Garbage

Sept. = Back to Heavy on Yield

Oct. through Dec = Heavy on Up + a lot of PJ LoTL
