I actually did not vote when Bush Jr. first became president, that was when I was at legal age to actually vote in our country. I did not vote for Bush's second term as President. During our 2008 election, I did not feel Obama would of been a good choice for Presidency. For many of his character issues, which are entirely my own personal opinion. I felt that McCain would of been a better President, but that was not enough for me to do something about it, because I also did not feel too strongly for his campaign.
2012 I will vote. I have been following the media as much as I can, I can say that there really is no true source to get my news. All of them are biased, all of them show celebrities endorsing this individual, all of them point fingers and don't give all the facts. But based on my findings I can actually form my own political opinion. Some I just youtube. And I am trying to start early. I have been following MSNBC, CNN, FoxNews, ABC, NBC, CBS, Local News, PBS, CSPAN, Bloomberg. All of these networks quack, quack, quack, and some talk on real issues, usually I keep two stations on recall button, so I can switch back and forth when I am really into it. I do not take my opinions from talk show hosts. Although it is entertaining to listen to them. I can say that there is no bad source for news broadcasts. Because as a newcomer, I think it's great how I can listen to everything and get angry and just go away when the topic or debate gets really shitty and superficial, which is what it felt like with Bush around. At least with a Democrat as President we now have individuals in these television networks who believe in something, not necessarily ratings which they can use (because some of these debates are just boring), but money and special interests, and I think those broadcasting people show through more. Do your research before listening it helps. Look things up like: free market capitalism, unions, blue dog conservative, private businesses, hospitality, to name a few.
It is my belief in the individual not the world as a whole. Because I just feel that most people see the world as a whole and what it should be and what it was, and not for what they need to get done now and for their own future. For instance, I have some friends who consider themselves to be Conservative Democrats. I had a general idea about what a Conservative Democrat is, but to this day am still a bit curious and baffled. After research, my opinion is that anybody who can label themselves as a Conservative Democrat must have a lot of balls. Meaning that they have the capability and time to provide opportunities for people in our work force and have capabilities to make important political decisions for these people.
When I was younger 18 - 28, I believed that taking care of myself was a key role. I did not pay attention to politics, I also had a general feeling of what the world should be (It should not of been what Bush presented us with) All I did was work and partied with friends and made a lot of mistakes along the way (girlfriends, tried to have a life, etc). I worked really hard and held a lot of odd jobs to fill the gaps. I did not have to think about the financial welfare of my immediate family. I consider my immediate family to be well off enough to take care of themselves. I did not think that I would have to consider taking care of them in the future. I now think about that regardless.
These days I have been unemployed for 5 months. I am now 30. Since I was 28 I have been working a regular job that has not been paying me too well, but is related to what my career goals are, which is graphic design (I have recently quit that job for my own reasons). I have always been told that if I wanted to do this it was going to be hard. Whoever I have listened to was right. From hearing that 10 years ago, whoever told me that also mentioned that if times are slow I should volunteer my time. So I did. During the past 2 years, I have also been volunteering my time in 3 local organizations. And still work for 2 out of those 3 organizations. Since then, my time was also spent researching our social system in California. I have filed for unemployment before, I have even argued over the phone for unemployment. I have even looked in further like general assistance, food stamps, medi-caid, medicare. and I found that there is nothing further in the social system for me to look into, for most of it is something that is a either a complete waste of time or a serious life commitment on my part which I cannot live with. If you don't know go find out.
With everything that I have learned I chose to be a Republican. Solely because I believe that the only person who is going to take care of myself is myself. I also built in belief that I am the future of my own family. As an individual that is what I have control over. I also support Ron Paul and don't feel that having him as our President will change the whole political system, but it will bring in new ideas. Like opportunities in local organizations and government (which I hope can provide an increasing number of stable jobs - hopefully accounting and so on), increased number of small private businesses - which has potential to grow as a larger entity. I also feel that helping our environment is more powerful in a local level than having the government take over, that goes back to small businesses competing. All just my opinion and things that I think about.
With this, I am hoping I am hitting the right spot and that all the younger kids will find their own way. It kind of worries me when people try to stay in one spot all the time and climb a ladder that they dreamed up, and find that all they had to do was look into more opportunities outside of their circle. The world is so small, I'm pretty sure if anybody was aggressive enough, and honest enough to not burn bridges, they will be successful. Myself, all I really want is to go back to my own life, which at first was in my own endeavors in the arts - which just means I just want to be create my own work and be good at doing it. Like the guys in Pearl Jam, didn't they just spend more time overseas? I don't think these are times to think about Bill Clinton or big money being invested into any bright ideas. I see it as a spiritual movement and time to start new. I also believe that this race issue in politics (even politicians and celebrities joking about it) further pushes people to sway away from the important topics. Here is something that I found on Obama on Youtube.

It's kind of sad, because then there were other networks that took this and blew it up even bigger and tried to paint pictures for these politicians by which celeb they are related to as distant cousins. It's pretty bad, not funny and not much fun. I think fox news related Hillary Clinton and Obama to be related to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Or maybe it was McCain and Palin. Maybe they're all incest of something...haha right if you really want to think about it if they're all white and cousins. Really stupid and unmemorable. I saw it all on Youtube. At least with Obama if you hear Mark Twain to Dick Chenney you'd be able to figure out what kind of person Obama is. Cunning and very racial and stupid. I mean, SHIIIIIIiiiiiiT it's not about who he is or what he knows, it's about what he can be done to make the economy better situationaly. And it took him 2 years to address that now that's pure shit right there.
Right now I am watching Obama, talking about rebuilding roads, airports, railways, and using that to create jobs for people, on a budget that will not hurt our economy. Do you think your state will benefit from his efforts?
30 Billion Dollars.
Imagine just employing workers on salary of $30,000 x 300,000 laborers all over the nation = $9,000,000,000
40,000 x 300,000 laborers = ?
45,000 x 300,000 laborers = ?
Fringe Benefits?
Now how about contractors?
Material Costs?
Planners?
Government?

I myself have been forced to observe politics more closely since rounding three decades of existence . . . mainly due to my friends getting more involved. Hopefully you can sort some of the bullshit from the barely (politically speaking) through interaction on this board. Beware though, the bullshit outnumbers the barley by a sizable margin
There are a lot of varying factors you need to consider when voting. Too many people simply vote the party. That's fine if you want to vote as someone else tells you. But, if you are concerned about the possible seating of a Supreme Court Justice, you'd better do more than just watch television for your information.
...
So... MY message to younger voters and people possibly confused...
DO NOT pick a team, Demorcat or Republican... pick a candidate that has a chance of winning and will do the least amount of damage to us.
Do not tow a particular party line... unless you like the taste of Donkey dick or the feel of Elephant dick in your ass.
Remember this fact: Democrats are tax and spend and Republicans are don't tax, but spend. They BOTH spend... difference being, who gets the bill... you... or your kids.
Do not get all to your information from broadcast media. Survey all, including foriegn sources, such as the BBC, CBC and Al Arabia (English) to gain an overview. The television source I found to be the most respectable is PBS. And, as sick and ironic as this may sound, some of the best journalistic practices are done on a parody of broadcast news... The Daily Show. This is how bad American newsrooms have become... the joke being made about them contains more facts and truths than the newsrooms themselves. In other words... our television news sucks ass.
Know that Campaign Promises are basically lies. If you vote for someone because you believe their television and radio negative, mud-slinging commercials... do America a favor and stay at home watching the 'Dancing With The Stars' marathon on election day.
Bottom line... America is NOT Red or Blue... she is Purple.
Hail, Hail!!!
"With our thoughts we make the world"
Cliff notes version?
Typo Man: "Thanks kidz, but remembir, stay in skool!"
lesson: you can't vote for who you want, you just might get a bush elected. but you can vote for who you don't want.
Cosmo,
just curious- if an election was held today Ron P. vs Obama..... who do you vote for (if you don't mine me asking)?
After I read it - I got the feeling that this poster is actually someone from the board, who simply created a new account....
Just fucking vote already
Yeuhhh 54% voter turn out - go canada go!
