songs that you just can't cover...

...because you love them too much...

i can't be the only one that feels this way about certain songs. so what are some of yours? sure, you may know how to play them, but you just don't...

here are a couple of mine....

    Everything by Pearl Jam. Because you'd have to have someone who could sing these songs properly and I've come to the conclusion that for me there's just no substitute for Eddie. Or anyone else in the band for that matter... Might sound stupid but I think i've never heard a really decent Pearl Jam cover. So I don't bother and just go ahead an butcher other people's songs. :D

    I love covering PJ but I hate hearing other people's covers...especially when they just look up tabs and have no idea how the actual song goes. In no way am I saying that I'm as good or can play like the PJ guys but it's fun to pretend. I've played a few PJ songs in concert but I'm not trying to be Ed or any of the other guys. I've gone to shows and heard Black played with NO emotion and it just crushes me!

    Madonna's cover isn't as....different as Limp Bizkit's cover of "Behind Blue Eyes"

    all PJ songs... i've always refused to cover PJ.
    well, maybe I could accept now with my band, since our new guitarist is a Mike's fan and plays well. So, that might work sufficiently well and I wouldn't be ashamed to transform a PJ song into shit..

    I"ll play pj at the house or when jamming with friends but that's all in good fun.

    Don't think i'd ever attempt to cover them live. I've seen many solo acts and a few tribute bands do it and it just don't seem right.

    I'm a very tough critic though, as they've been a large part of the soundtrack to my life.
