POSTERS FOR TRADE/SALE (many framed)

For the sake of full disclosure, all of the items listed below as framed were done professionally with a fairly standard black frame, no matting or border, and have been drymounted. Upon my having these framed, my original order requested that they NOT be drymounted somehow was lost between the girl at the counter who took my order and the framer himself and they were drymounted anyway. This went on for months before I recently took one back because it had a damn hair under the glass only to have them open it up and for me to find out that it - along with the several others that I've had done there in the last year! - had all been drymounted when I specifically asked them to SKIP that one step in the process. Once you get them back though, you can't tell by looking so I was none the wiser. Alas...the owner of the store is doing me the favor basically selling them in his gallery on my behalf as I scrounge around and try to re-buy all of the actual prints to have them re-done sans drymounting. Bear in mind that this doesn't effect the poster at all; in fact, it keeps them looking flat and perfect in the frame and it won't deteriorate the condition of the print either- they all look fantastic truthfully. Since I consider myself more of an avid collector though, this isn't really the preferable way for me to have my collection maintained. That all said, anyone in NYC who is at all interested in taking a look at what I have "for sale", some of the following posters are all up for grabs (and several are on display at the gallery noted at the bottom) but this is the entire list of what I have available; note there are some prints mixed in there as well that are NOT framed and have been priced:

Some of these are at this location if you're local:
Quality Art & Framing, Inc
909 2nd Avenue (btwn 48th & 49th)
NY, NY 10017
(212)826-2693

All of these look gorgeous framed as they are and were MINT (or very close to) upon the time they were framed. In my opinion, the ideal buyer for the framed items is someone who has had their eye on one/some of these and simply doesn't have the motivation or time to deal with the eBay search and bid hassle that goes into being a collector. If you want it to keep and don't want to deal with the nuisance of buying them and getting them professionally framed on your own, look no further. If you're looking to "buy and hold" hoping to sell later for a measly $20 profit, then these likely are not for you. All of the FRAMED items are not priced purposefully - they are all on a "best offer" basis. Just remember the framing isn't free and the shipping will be more expensive than a tube; I plan on having the framer do all of my packing/shipping and I'll eat that cost as long as the offers are reasonable enough. All of the prints are priced with shipping included. As far as TRADE options go, some prints I'm still looking for are as follows:

Ames Wantagh 2000 (3 shows; 1 poster)
http://www.expressobeans.com/public/detail.php/1678
Ames Camden/Philly #2 2006
http://www.expressobeans.com/public/detail.php/38134
Klausen D.C. 2006
http://www.expressobeans.com/public/detail.php/38168
Klausen Honolulu 2006
http://www.expressobeans.com/public/detail.php/46605

Feel free to suggest others you may have available for trade, especially Klausens which seem to be my current favorites. PM me all reasonable offers, and to help keep track of who was first in line for any of these items please use this thread to announce what it is you're going after...

thanks,
Greg

Using the word "drymounted" around here is like walking into a crowded room and yelling out "I have the Plague"... sorry...

lots of nice stuff here, and I'd be interested in a couple if they weren't drymounted.

Best of luck moving this stuff.
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

I know, I know. My only saving grace here is that some of my really prized prints hadn't made it to the framer to receive the same fate yet. But, they all look pristine, and if you're a "buy and hold" customer you'll get a very fair deal from me on any of them.

I'm new to poster collecting, I know what 'drymounting' is....but what do you do to the poster if is isn't drymounted? I bought a frame for one of my posters, but now I find, I need to buy a mat for it...because it is not 18x24, it's like 18 1/16 x 24....

it basically just means that a non-corrosive adhesive is used to attach the poster and keep it permanently flat/immobile within the frame. Once it is done, you can't tell it was done unless you actually open the frame up and see the poster attached to something (foamcore board, etc). The upside is that you have a framed print that looks perfect and always will, the downside is that you can't really sell the print anymore. Again, if you're framing to keep your stuff forever, it isn't a bad way to do things...but it does compromise their value (at least when it comes to the secondary market and finding a buyer who is fine with how it has been framed).

As for your matting issue, I'm don't know a whole lot about framing but I generally avoid getting anything done with a matted look, as I think it can be really hit or miss, and I like my posters to look more uniform when they're finished. Standard black frame (and no matting) is what I always go with because it doesn't distract from the actual print - very simple and clean looking, in my opinion...

Just remember the framing isn't free

dude, I hope you raised hell and didnt have to pay for the framing after they destroyed (in the collecting world at least) all of these posters.

not sure what kind of prices you're looking for for the framed/drymounted stuff, but I agree that if you're buying it to keep and display, buying a drymounted poster could be a great deal.

not sure what kind of prices you're looking for for the framed/drymounted stuff, but I agree that if you're buying it to keep and display, buying a drymounted poster could be a great deal.

I did, I did. Tough part is that my framer is a really nice guy, and it is the idiot who works for him and took my initial order is to blame. Again though, I've since been able to re-buy most of the prints at least, and I'm a "frame and display" person anyway so whatever ones I don't sell I'll just keep. They all look fantastic and I'm the only one who knows their dirty little secret - the casual viewer has no clue. Some of the more expensive ones though I'm a little more upset by (Borgata '05 particularly). My saving grace though is that at least most of my more valuable/expensive prints were yet to be framed and can still be done properly, and he's assured me that all future business will be steeply discounted as a result of the previous errors.

yeah, but obviously you cant sell them without disclosing the info to the buyer. still surprised by this BIG mistake. if it were Michael's or something I wouldnt be, but a gallery employee should know better.

good luck. I hope it works out.

I don't have that one - that is one that I'd be willing to trade any of those others listed FOR.

Of course - hence my being totally straightforward about it with the audience here. Sadly, in these parts (with both stores I've ever gotten things framed at), dry-mounting is (or at least seems to be) standard procedure.
